I live in NO Virginia on an old train line (Washington and Old Domain -- WOD) and love trains and everything train related. We had the opportunity (one of my life check list items) to take the train from Washington to NYC (I've done that many times) but to go north of NYC along the Hudson. I absolutely LOVED the older train station in Rhinebeck. Just a fun trip and a historic / fun experience! We walked 2 blocks to the Rhienbeck hotel - love the little town - love the river & views - just don't expect to find a restaurant or bar :-)

There is really nothing to see here. Most of the time it appears that it is not open to the public. However, there is a nice signs that talks about the people that passed through the train station and gives you some history. There’s a nice little playground if you have children as well. I wouldn’t go out of my way to go here but if you’re in the neighborhood is worth a drop by.

This was our second visit to the train station. The first was a summer weekend. We were able to go inside the tiny station and see some model train set ups, read the signs regarding history of the station, and enjoy the river views. This second time, we went specifically for the Hobo Night event with Bindlestick Bill performing. We loved it. The performance was engaging and informative. We were able to go upstairs and see the larger train display. On our first visit, nobody mentioned the upstairs. There are more events coming up if you check their website. It seems they have done updates on the building and grounds based on some of the older reviews. I thought the building, walkway, etc looked great.

The station was closed. It gives a view of the river. Has some placards of information on the river. Four or five minute drive of the main road. Why not check it out

This is a deactivated train station. It is mostly closed but one can drive up to it, park, walk around it and look in the windows. There is a historical marker. I found the drive down and back to be more interesting than the station itself.

When I came it was closed. But according to fliers there are some events organized here. There is a parking next to it but very small and I am not sure if it is only to serve residents. See pictures

After many years of visiting Hyde Park, we we finally at the right spot at the right time and were able to see the inside of the train station. Currently they're open Monday evenings. The former train station is committed to keeping history alive and offers nearly monthly activities - The Lincoln Ghost train in April, a Hot Dog Picnic in June, a Halloween event in October, and a Polar Express event in December to name a few. It's administered and kept up by volunteers who are interested in both the history of FDR's connection to Hyde Park as well as the railroad's role in Hyde Park's history. There are some great photographs and interesting stories in the personalized tour. We're glad we got to visit and meet the people involved with this magnificent step back into history!!

I’d wouldn’t recommend driving across the country to visit the Hyde Park Train Station. However, if you are in the neighborhood (FDR Historic Site is only 2.1 miles away) go! It is where FDR’s body was brought by train to Hyde Park, for burial at his home. Even if closed, one gets a good view of the Hudson River and the Railway Express wagon and milk cans in front of the station are a reminder of a bygone era.

The Hyde Park Train Station is right on the Hudson and offers some nice river views. The station is connected with two great American presidents, FDR and Lincoln. If you like the water, trains and/or presidential history, this is worth a quick stop.

Has a bathroom and use it if you have good balance, watch your step and all aboard. No garbage in toilet.
