This hatchery was very well maintained and it was fun to see the very small fish along with the extremely old and large sturgeon. I would recommend this for families or anyone of any age to visit.

A couple miles off the main highway in Knappa, the hatchery is surrounded by trees and has many raceways in which you can see lots of juvenile salmon and trout nearly year-round. Plus they say in September it gets pretty exciting with falll chinook adults returning. Plus a very good information kiosk too.

On our visit to the hatchery we met Mike. Great tour guide. He had been feeding the the small salmon. He dropped everything and took us through the entire hatchery explaining every step that they do at the hatchery. Can't thank him enough. For young children what a great lesson.
