My first time here. For Black Americans, this is heart breaking experience as the museum also displays historical accounts, artifacts, and pictures of lynching (men, women, children) and slavery. The hateful, evil, despicable behavior of whites will forever go unmatched. Study every picture and read every line.

Definitely check out this museum. Donate to the new facility they plan to build if you can. It was opened by a couple that drove around with a few wax statues when they first started. It shows the great history and accomplishments of so many while also highlighting the reality of slavery and lynching. It’s a small museum with so much history!

My son came home with a permission slip from his school to visit this museum this month. I was so happy to see that this jewel has not been forgotten! I visited this museum in high school (many years ago) and never forgot about my experience here. I encourage our young brothers and sisters to visit this museum before going to the bigger museums.There is a certain feel of truth in history you get when you visit here.

I visited the museum in December 2019 and was truly amazed that a Black couple was able to create and maintain this educational and eye-opening collection for decades (I believe they even travelled with it in the early days before they were able to give the collection a more permanent home). Although the neighborhood may look a little rough, the museum is worth a visit and it should be supported monetarily with taxes, donations, e.t.c. I would caution about young kids seeing some exhibits but then again, learning Black history in total may help them to better understand the journey of Black Americans and to appreciate the ability of Black Americans to endure and move forward against all odds. Go visit!

Great place hopefully they raise the money to open a bigger building because they need it. But it does have lots of parking which is a plus

First of all this museum is located in a very dilapidated neighborhood! Some of the wax figures look horrible and you could view the whole museum in 20 minutes (all 3 floors) This museums could use a serious upgrade but do to lack of funds this probably won’t happen anytime soon! It’s a shame when black people don’t support something that represents our black history!!!!

This wax museum is fantastic. The images are stunning, and clearly resemble their namesakes. Our tour guide was a lady who had personally participated in the Civil Rights activities of the 1960's. She was intelligent and personable. The tour about an hour, and it turned out to be a <> lesson. Absolutely excellent. Most of my group happened to be white, and we all agreed we had learned things we had not known or even thought about. Temporarily housed in a former fire house, the North Avenue location is about 2.5 miles northwest of the Baltimore Inner Harbor by car or taxi.

This little museum is worth every dime and some. I was pleasantly surprised when I entered. Although the building is falling apart. This is a must see. There is information here I have never seen or heard. If you are really interested in Black History go . Although this museum is small it is packed with historical data. Be prepared to stay at least three hours. Two is not enough.

Went to this museum and was greatly pleased! The works of wax art were stupendous and down right awesome! This is something that you must see up close and personal! The wax figures are so life like as if they were about to come to life and speak. I will warn you, there is some graphic stuff in here so if you take little children be prepared to explain a lot!😀 This exhibit takes you from slavery to modern times. A real nust see for all when in Baltinore.

Yes this place is not in the best neighborhood and could use some renovations, but the history inside speaks volumes and is a must see for all ages. You will not be disappointed especially if you are a history buff. The wax figures and brief descriptions are just enough to make you want to do more research as we did using our phones throughout the displays. They are collecting donations to build a new site.
