You'll be amazed at what you learn

If you don't watch out you will learn something on your visit. For example, Baltimore was the leading umbrella manufacture in the US for decades. Who knew!!?? Excellent museum. Highly recommend you pick up the free audio tour on your visit. Allocate about 2 hours - could easily add another hour to the visit if you read all of the display information.

Very Interesting from an Unusual Point of View.

This was very interesting. Almost all the exhibits were about things unique to Maryland and especially Baltimore. It is interesting to learn about the industrial uses of things like electricity and gas and how the introduction of these helped industries, and therefore, the city grow. There were a wide variety of exhibits, from a machine shop to a cannery to a garment shop. We spent quite a long time here. It is also nice to have parking available.

Inspiring Activities and Exhibits

I have visited this museum for years with my two children, and there is always something new to see or to build. I think my son's decision to pursue Industrial Design as a career was partly inspired by this Museum. We love it.

One of the Best

This museum highlights the long and rich history of industry in the Baltimore area. It is divided up into separate areas for each industry. The exhibits are not just a collection of artifacts on display in cases. The exhibits are full set ups for each industry. For instance, the garment industry exhibit is a full set up of a garment producing factory. The complexity of these exhibits sets this museum apart from any others I have seen. Add in the fantastic guided tour (which I highly recommend), and you have an exceptional historical experience.

I am glad I joined the tour.

I pass this museum when I walk to and from work, and I have often shopped at the Farmers' Market hosted on its property on Saturday mornings.

If you get the opportunity to join a guided tour, I strongly recommend that you do. The stories were quite interesting, and the tour guide showed us some of the equipment in operation.

Wee Workers Program

Program appears to be designed for 3 & 4 year olds. An enthusiastic presenter for program. Seemed to have regular attendees from community. Good if you are already in Baltimore. Possibly not worth a special trip from suburbs - for these younger kids. Lots of hands-on displays useful for older kids. These hands-one exhibits are not grouped together, but are part of separate, themed displays. A very nice, very interesting museum.

Glad I stopped by, enjoyed Bethlehem photo exhibit

I didn’t stay very long, but I was glad I stopped by on a walk to Fort McHenry. Clean, quiet, accessible, and interesting. It’s location on the harbor made it all feel very real. I enjoyed the cannery exhibit and the photos of the Bethlehem steel mills and community.
