We stopped here because we were nearby and TripAdvisor had high recommendations for the museum.
Definitely a place for railroad or streetcar fans. They have recovered and meticulously restored cars that actually ran in Charm City. The guides were able to tell us the history and recovery story of each car.
Rides are included in the admission price and we took two rides on two very different cars. The museum exhibit is a series of photos depicting the story of streetcars in Baltimore going back to the 19th century. A new interactive display is soon to be installed.
We also were taken into the shop to see streetcars in various stages of restoration. Their cars span the history of street cars from horse-pulled trolley to the last of tbe modern electric cars last run in the 1960s.
At this time, I can't recommend this museum for small children because there are not enough exhibits and activities to hold their attention.

For those who remember this mode of transit you'll like it here. It might even get you to recall the trips you made on a streetcar during your youth

Bonding time with Mom. Such a fun afternoon. I grew up hearing stories about my mother's adventures...and every story started with the sentence " We took the streetcar to..." I really enjoyed being able to ride on the cars with my mother. What a treat! The conductors were awesome. They were informative and enthusiastic. What a neat place to relive a part of my mother's history.

Great array of trolleys from as far back as 1890 (just put back on display after a 5 year restoration) up to the 1960s. Docents act as conductors and guides plus there are other volunteers working behind the scenes to keep things running smoothly. Pay for a token once and ride any of the cars operating that day. Recommend checking their website before visiting because of the limited hours of operation.

We went with a large group of people, mostly children. The kids were all fascinated and loved taking the street car rides. The staff (all volunteers) knew a tremendous amount of history and information. The museum itself was not big (two small areas) so it was not a long outing. The trains are not wheelchair/stroller accessible so we left strollers on the side (totally safe area to do it) but if you are coming with someone who can't manage the one or two steps up to the train, might not be worth the visit.

A great ride into streetcar history! The volunteers here not only repair vintage streetcars but share their knowledge about the city transportation before the proliferation of automobiles. The cover everything from horse drawn rail cars to the last streetcar to ride Baltimore streets. You also get to ride on three different streetcars from the earliest to the latest with informative narratives. If you're interested in rail transport this is a must see in Baltimore.

This is the place to go to ride a bit of history. Baltimore's street car past is well represented here. Volunteers and staff let you understand why Baltimore is what it is.

Because this museum provides history about public transport vehicles and its Baltimore system in the years from horsecars until 1963, and you can touch - even ride many of the electric streetcars of the 20th century, you can be transported into what life was like before automobiles in a way that is lively and fun. The museum offers a demonstration ride on an antique vehicle, a description of that vehicle by the operator, and static displays of other cars. That these old relics are there to ride is a miracle! Each is safe and restored. The museum tells the story of how life was in Baltimore, how people got around during earlier times, how times and traffic change with the passage of years,
There is much to see and experience.

Helpful staff. Off the beaten path, good for those with an interest in street cars of times gone by. Volunteers are awesome and knowledgeable. Riding the different cars was fun--very short trips. A good place to bring kids.

It was my mother's birthday weekend and I always try to find her an activity. Knowing her love of trains and history, I came across of this gem and she had a blast. She was able to ride (3) streetcars and was also offered the opportunity to operate one of the cars. One would never know of this Baltimore gem as it is nicely tucked away in an area of the city that tends to not get much traffic. The building is housed with a lot of historic photographs of Baltimore from the 20's up until the 50's offering visitors a glimpse of what Baltimore used to look like. For example, I never knew that Baltimore had a loop like Chicago. Now it is the Jones Falls Expressway. Who knew?

It is $10 for adults and $8 for senior citizens. I am not sure how much children cost, but I think it is a great way to spend the day.
