Sherwood Gardens is tucked away in the northern part of Baltimore surrounded by a labyrinth of narrow, often one-way residential streets. It is worth the effort to find this small but charming piece of landscape maintained in large part by community volunteers. I was lucky to time my visit just before an afternoon deluge. I was hoping to see the tulips, and was lucky in that it was only just a little past their peak, and orange, white, pink, and purple blooms abounded in neat beds. Azaleas were just coming in to their own. Majestic trees dot the well cared for lawn. Families with children, groups of young friends and older members of the area all found enjoyment. Parking was easy today on the quiet streets surrounding the park. This was the perfect Sunday outing.

What a great hidden gem. Tucked away in a gorgeous Guilford neighborhood & Loyola College. There is no signage for the place on any main road so you won’t just accidentally drive by, the tulips were on fire on Sunday. Can’t believe I’d never been here. Added to my annual visit list.

This is a hidden gem in Baltimore. Some of the surrounding neighborhoods are scary so don't stray too far but the immediate area is beautiful.

Sherwood Gardens is a Baltimore treasure. For several weeks in the Spring you can surround yourself in color. Tulips, azaleas, dogwoods and much more blooming in a wonderful rainbow of colors. A special place for the gardener in all of us.

We just love it here. It is the perfect place to have a picnic and let the kids run around. Often we see people taking beautiful photos here too. A must see in Spring with the tulips!!!!!

Sherwood Garden is a small city garden in a most beautiful neighborhood that boasts historic homes that are well maintained and beautiful with lovely gardens. Walking in the neighborhood and the garden would transcend anyone who is interested in historical places to when the houses were first built, at the time that Baltimore was at peak of its glory in early 1900s. Enjoy the walk and a picnic in the garden during Spring and summer months. In Spring, tulips, azaleas and daffodils are spectacular, an in summer, the summer flowers are in bloom.

This is a lovely little park. Unfortunately not much in bloom when we were there, but we hear the tulips and azaleas are marvelous - just a few of the latter and some dogwoods were in bloom. Gotta go back next April or early May when they are in their glory.

Time your visit for the Tulips or azaleas. Ok other times for a blanket picnic or just chilling out but no floral extravaganza like the spring.

We went there to see the tulips (they said late April to early May) but they had already stopped blooming by the first week of May. Still a beautiful park.

There are acres of huge, multicolored azalea around this small park and groupings of beautiful tulips. After the tulips have finished blooming, they have a "dig" day where you can dig your own tulip bulbs from the beds for 30 cents a piece. (used to e 10 cents) Even on a rainy day this neighborhood & the gardens were spectacular. Beautiful old stately mansions surrounded by immaculate lawns will draw you to circle the block a few times to be able to look at both sides of the street. Very much worth a side trip when the flowers are in bloom and if you like old architecture.

Can I host an event at Sherwood Gardens?
Gatherings of more than 15 people must have prior approval. For additional information – view our event guidelines. Inquiries about the use of the Gardens should be made to the Guilford Association office by calling 410-889-1717.

According to the garden management this week 16-22 April 2017 will be peak bloom.

I would like to know if the tulips in Sherwood Community Garden are in bloom yet. When will they peak this year? The web site says last week of April but flowers seem to be blooming early this year.
Please let me know, I do not want to miss them.
