Local artists and folks interested in learning how to make pottery art use this facility. The gallery across the street shows artist in residence art works. A little gem.

This is one of Baltimore's unsung jewels--great programs and creative outlets at a truly reasonable cost. The teachers and staff make it a real pleasure for artists of all skill levels to build their abilities, and you get to bring home REALLY cool stuff. Among things that make Baltimore a good place to live, Clayworks certainly ranks in the top 5...go give it a try!

We visited expressly to see the Menagerie Show juried by Jenny Mendez. The galleries are in a converted farmhouse building so the shows are set up in a series of rooms. This makes for a very intimate viewing environment. Lots of natural light.
This art center has a reputation of nationally famous exhibits and this show did not disappoint.
Its right by the light rail, and there is a good sized parking lot. You can also visit the classrooms across the street. Staff are very friendly.The village itself is a nice place to take some time for a dinner or tea.
The downside is that this would be a difficult place to bring someone in a walker or wheelchair. Really not designed with that in mind whenever it was built (long time ago.)

We saw two exhibits of what I would describe as art pottery. Some of the pieces were functional, but all were artistic. Compared to other pottery studios I've seen the work found here was more sophisticated. Interesting glazes and designs. They also have a nice shop with more functional prices

Tremendously enjoyed the display at Clayworks. Some really great clay artists are exhibiting. Go there and discover something else than French Impressionists. Got supplies at their shop too. Just great place.

From very interested in the art of pottery and ceramics, or to one of the many branches craft / art to which I can not dedicate.
To what qaundo are Mt Washington I stop to see in the shop and also in the back of the shop as a product from the Masters and the students of the courses.
Attracts me in particular the outdoor fountain obtained by a cascade of water that overflows from hundreds of jugs specially inclined.

Baltimore Clayworks has been around for many years. It's located in the Mt Washington Village. It's around the corner from the tavern. On one side of the street sits the gallery. On the other is the studio space. The gallery is completely free to visit, donation appreciated and items available for sale. Clayworks has an outstanding program to buy a small piece of pottery and you donate an art class to a city youth. This is an exceptional investment in our kids!
We took a pottery class that required pre-registration and fee. The amazing instructor was patient, demonstrated the craft and provided fabulous personalized attention to each of the students. Our class was 7 in size and it looks like 10 might be the limit. A couple weeks after the class, you go back and pick up your piece.
No one in the class had ever done this sort of thing before and we all felt successful because of the guidance we received. I would suggest a class or summer camp to anyone who can afford it. Contact them for scholarships. Please support local art programs since many of the schools are making cuts there.
FYI for parking, there is a generous amount in the area. Meters accept credit cards.

terrific classes - enough personalized attention, and enough freedom to play! would absolutely go back, and i recommend it to anyone who is the least bit creative, and the most as well. all types, all ages.

Took the kids for a tour and this place was wonderful. They explained everything so thoroughly that even I as a novice understood.
