Homewood, the central gem of the University

While the Johns Hopkins University owns a wide variety of properties throughout Baltimore (and beyond), the Homewood Campus is the central gem. Johns Hopkins University's Homewood Campus is an important part of any tour of the northern parts of the city. Surrounding it are the Baltimore Museum of Art to the South and The Episcopal Cathedral of Maryland and Sherwood Gardens to the North. San Martin Drive along the Western side borders Stony Run and Wyman Park with walking trails. Many of the campus' buildings of red brick with white marble trim reflect the Federal style of architecture from the 19th Century and are prominently displayed in Homewood House from the Carroll Estate, an original building on site and today a museum. The architecture and lawns are reminiscent of many colleges and universities from that period in the southern part of the country. In short, one should take in the campus in at a leisurely pace to gain the most from the experience.

Beautiful campus with top notch academics. Mostly interested in their research and science programs. Took a tour and the guide was a wealth of knowledge and promoted the school well. She gave some tips about places to visit in the surrounding area. Nothing but admiration for this fine school.

Beautiful Campus!

Toured the JHU campus with a group. I enjoyed the walking the campus and visiting some of the libraries and labs. Sarah, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable and she took us to all of the main buildings. Being on campus, we felt safe and Sarah assured us that the campus and surrounding neighborhoods were safe and patrolled. They have a variety of courses, tracks, and majors and being a research university, there are many, many opportunities for academic collaborations. The medical and lash school acceptance rate is very high and they have scholarships you may be able to take care of to support your academic career. Since touring the university, I’ve been thinking about applying myself.

Why not walk in the steps of great men from the past and present and visit one of America's best universities and a continuing source of pride to Marylanders. While there, visit its Peabody Institute that rivals, some say, NY and other states known for graduating music prodigies.

Drove through on a rainy day

Unfortunately due to time restrictions we were only able to drive through this beautiful campus, it was a rainy day but we were still able to appreciate the beautiful red brick buildings and nicely manicured garden areas. The Baltimore Museum of Art is located within the university grounds and is on the top of my list for my next visit to Baltimore.

The Johns Hopkins Club on the College Campus

The Johns Hopkins Club is certainly worth joining as it has wonderful food and is quite inexpensive. It was built many decades ago as a faculty club; it has transformed into an Alumni Club but is open to anyone who wants to join. It is quite lovely with a gorgeous, intimate library with a fireplace and leather lounge chairs where one can have cocktails before dinner. It has a bright and attractive lounge with open adjoining rooms also conducive to enjoying cocktails prior to lunch or dinner. The main dining room has a huge ceiling and attractive furniture and has a kind of Williamsburg feel. There is a downstairs pub called The Tap Room and is open Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and for special occasions. The food at the Hopkins Club is delicious and the Sunday Brunch is positively amazing with much to offer.
There are several other eateries on the Johns Hopkins campus but they can’t compare to the welcoming and gracious atmosphere of The Johns Hopkins Club.
