Two of us attended the Korean BBQ class. We are both very experienced cooks and the class seemed to be geared towards those with lower skill levels. We expected this but were interested in learning about Korean BBQ techniques and getting recipes.
What we liked: the professional chef/instructor was welcoming, friendly, personable and did a great job of making sure everyone was able to participate at whatever level at which they were comfortable; the class size (14 people, a mix of friends, couples and singles) was just right; the facility is very well-equipped with several work stations, one for each dish to be prepared, with all the ingredients, equipment and recipes already organized and ready to go; in addition to the chef, there was a hard-working helper who bussed the work and dining tables and cleaned up as the evening progressed; the ingredients were all fresh and plentiful - definitely enough to eat; BYOB is a nice touch and Schola provides glasses, ice and carafes of chilled water for those who do not bring their own beverages; there was plenty of street parking available (the class began at 6pm which is right when rush hour parking restrictions expire on Charles Street); and, most important of all, everyone had a great time!
A suggestion to improve the experience: it would be nice to leave with a copy of the recipes, including any special ingredients.

Schola has cooking classes nailed. They thought of everything in advance! All of the utensils and ingredients were prepped for us. The instruction was insightful, but it didn’t overshadow the hands-on fun. Jerry and Amy were friendly and encouraging.
We planned a trip to Baltimore around this class, and I’m so glad we did! Our 6-year-old loved it!

This place is next level. We took the dumplings around the world class with a large group. The instruction was helpful without being too involved. The chef let us enjoy ourselves, drink wine, and still learn the dumpling basics. The food all came out so delicious and eating family style was a blast. We will be back!

Highly recommend! Fun, relaxing evening! Amy readily shares her tips and techniques, from skinning salmon to operating a pressure cooker, adapting to all levels of cooking experience. By the end of the night, what began as small groups or pairs of awkward strangers, settled down to family-style feast filled with stories and laughter. You won't leave hungry!

This was my first visit to School and it will not be my last! We participated in the summer pasta class as a birthday gift to me. There are only about 14 people in the class and although Amy had spent the day with a kids class, she was full of energy and spunk! W loved her sense of humor and she made sure that everyone there was involved. Did I mention that we had all of the items for dinner plus left overs to take home. Don't forget to bring your won special beverages. She sends you the receipts via email after the class which we will definitely explore on our own. We will be back and have already shared our experience with others! THANKS AMY

Amazing evening with Amy. We learned to shuck, roast and fry beautiful Chesapeake oysters, then made roasted rockfish with crab imperial and asparagus, with a side of tomato, corn, garlic salad. Then we finished it off with amazing ginger cakes, ice cream and hot fudge sauce.

I took my granddaughter to sushi kid’s class for sushi. Wow! Really well done across the board. Good number of the kids in class for learning, good teaching techniques from jerry, and most important good hands on experience in learning how to make sushi. Jerry was easily accessible to answer questions on the process. Fish, veggies and all super fresh and delicious. Nice they were allowed to eat and enjoy and take home their extras to share with family and friends. Good location, easy parking, classroom good design for participating. I cannot say enough positive things. My granddaughter loved it!

five good friends are planning a trip to Italy in the Fall and thought this would be a good way to kick off a day we saved for planning the smaller details of the trip. We went to the Summer Pasta session on a Saturday afternoon and LOVED it. There were 20 people attending ( a real diverse group) and we made two kinds of pasta and five sauces. Everyone brought an Italian bottle of wine and after making the five dishes, dug in and ate a fabulous meal. Jerry and Amy are great hosts and very patient with those of us who struggle with cooking. I have planned a private birthday class for a good friend in November. Can't wait.

My wife and I received a gift certificate to Schola from our son who knows we love to cook. Being mostly Irish we chose to go to Schola on St. Patrick's Day for an Irish themed meal.
Our experience was a lot of fun. Cooking under the direction of Amy and Jerry with 17 other attendees was a fantastic experience. After preparing the meal, we sat down to a scrumptious tasting meal.
Amy and Jerry are not only great chefs but brought a lot of personality and levity into the mix.
We intend to do this again and possibly bring some friends along.

This was my third time at Schola. We have held our office holiday lunch there for the past two years and I was also there once for a friend's birthday party. Jerry and Amy, the owners, are great and so much fun. The food is different every time and everyone enjoys cooking together, having a few drinks, and then eating the finished product. You can do as much or as little work as you'd like. If you're planning a special birthday party, larger group dinner, or office event, I highly recommend checking it out.
