While visiting Fort Stanwix we purposely HAD to drive by this place. I have a family filled with motorheads ~ military and hobbyist and was REALLY looking forward to see old Americana brought back to life. BUT there website does say the museum is closed during the winter but thought we still would be able to see everything else. All 4 gas pumps were REMOVED!!! UGHhhhh sooo upset!

This is a quaint stop to make if you are visiting Rome, NY. It is so nice to see a little bit of Americana preserved. I would not go back to Rome just for this museum, but if you are in Rome, it is a must stop!

This 1929 gas station is part of a revitalization of the History of Rome, NY. It’s located centrally. Gas was sold for thee cents a gallon. What would make this museum more unique would be a 1929 Automobile.

This is well done but a quick visit with a few pictures to be taken of the pumps. This is a labor of love for someone and it shows. It was not open when we were there.

There is no admission fee, there are no hours and there is not gate and certainly no lines. This is just an old fashioned tiny gas station building situated on a corner and the premises has several old fashioned gasoline pumps situated as they might have been when originally used in the nineteen twenties and thirties.

This is very cute place that brings back memories of a nastalgic time. It is fun to look at but it leaves you wanting more.

They (Sears) sold gas for 9 cents a gallon, Texaco full service station on opposite side where parking garage is sold it for 10 cents a gallon, not sure who is responsible for make over but did a nice job

When in Rome, this is a MUST SEE destination not far from the Fort Stanwix Historic Site. Sears Oil was a local (Rome) establishment that specialized in very unique gas station designs. After closing the business (due to challenges on the name -- Sears -- a family name with no affiliation with the department store), the owner sought to restore one of his classic gas stations that had been "mothballed" for many, many years, but remained relatively intact. The result is well worth seeing! (It may be open seasonally and/or by appointment only).

The museum wasn't open but it was a nice photo op! Interesting old gas pumps, you could envision yourself there years ago. If you want to see Fort Stanwix put this on the list too. Not worth a special trip but add it to your day trip itinerary like we did!

I am drawn to this little building because it was always there when I was growing up - it was never open, that I remember, but I recall walking past it every day on the way to Barringer School back in the early 70's. It is a nice restoration job, but you cannot go in. But I do appreciate the artistic and historic value of this.

Tom Sears who set up the museum is a classmate who graduated in 1943 from Rome Free Academy. The museum is located a couple blocks fro where I spenthe first 14 years of my life. I have never seen it myself and probably never will.
