The ruins testify to an interesting past of this coastal region. Particularly interesting tomb steles can be seen. However, you need competent guides to recognize the invisible aspects of the slave trade to Oman. Our guide told us that in the dress, people were converted from Christianity to Islam. This is nonsense, of course, because at that time the Christian colonizers had not yet landed in this region. It is important to organize reliable pickup, there are no running Tuctucs here.

The ruins show the history of the region before colonization; the large mosque and some of the graves of the imam and guards are particularly well preserved. The medicinal baobab trees on the site are also impressive. The tour depends on the qualifications of the guide. Our guide told us that the madrasah was used to convert people from Christianity to Islam. That is utter nonsense, because in the 14th century there were no Christians in the region. I was interested in the history of slavery in the place, but apart from the fact that local slaves had to carry goods up and down the steep bank to the river and that it was an Omani foreign trading post, I didn't find out anything else.

Mnarani ruins are located in along the Kilfi Creek. You have to climb 100 steps to get to the top so go prepared.
There's a tiny snake park at the entrance if you're a fan of reptiles.
The ruins are very interesting, was happy to learn about the culture of the past settlements and see their way of life. The huge baobab trees are definitely worth checking out and if you want to make a wish and leave it in the tree, you take a walk 5 times around the baobab, make a wish and never look back, or so we were told.
The views from the top are spectacular. You must visit this site if you are a fan of history.

Come le rovine di Gede a Watamu, e’ una piccola chicca da visitare con rovine ben conservate ed un bosco con baobab che meritano.
A parte le spiagge in Costa c’e molta storia, poco calcolata e conservata ma esistente! Cerchiamo di mantenerla visitando i luoghi d’interesse storico.

Mnarani Club/ Hotel is on a commanding cliff on Klifi Creek , with commanding views out to the sea and coral reef. It has a " private " beach and the resort is set in tropical gardens.
The staff were all so helpful, and despite trying to run the resort with a low occupancy
due to the global Covid Pandemic regulations, nothing was compromised .
Good service, food , bar and beach service.
One of the best holidays ever....good rooms, organization of tours etc.

One of the best places to stay when in Kilifi. Has a good private beach, assortment of water sports, good WiFi, good service

The Mnarani Ruins are of two Mosques. Quite interesting if you like that sort of thing. There are also some nice very large Babob trees in the grounds. A couple of things to beware of when visiting. Very many large trucks delivering stone for the new Lamu port use the Old Ferry road and they do not stop or get out of the way for anyone. Also, there are 112 steps to get up to it from the Old Ferry road. It is run by the Kenyan Museum Servie and costs Ksh100.

The ruins themselves are amazing, with plenty of history to soak in. Be aware to access the ruins there are steep steps.

This is ruins from the 1500 when this town was given up. Nobody knows why. The ruins consist of at least two mosques and som other houses, some really big baobab trees and some snakes you can see and feel. Interesting
