The New Orleans School of Cooking provided a space for me and one of my best friends to share a fun and awesome cooking experience in one of the most amazing cities. Chef Joe was the best! He was patient, encouraging, very knowledgeable and made cooking in his kitchen fun. We learned technique's to cook some of the cities best creole dishes, shrimp/grits, gumbo, banana foster. The best hands on cooking class that won’t disappoint! The bonus was the takeaway souvenir apron that I love. Also, the bayou blend seasonings I purchased add an extra bit of magic to my dishes. Laissez le bon temps roulet!!!! “let the good times roll” Twila Kerr from California.

This cooking class was a one of a kind experience. We were so glad we could make it. I have always wanted to learn how to make gumbo and this class didn’t disappoint.

Chef Cindy was incredible. Her stories were fabulous. She took us step by step through the recipes. We cooked and had our meal together at one table. The food was really good and it was a wonderful experience. It was a nice way to meet new people. Enjoyable time. I highly recommend this as a must do in Nola. Laurel H

We attended a cooking demonstration this week and really enjoyed it, much moreso than a recent food tour we attended. The cook did a fantastic job telling us about New Orleans and the history of Cajun/Creole. The food was amazing with the gumbo being my favorite.

We chose the observer’s option. The gumbo was the best I’ve had. The chef made 5 dishes. I would highly recommend. The parking was easy. It was well worth the reasonable cost.

My wife enjoys cooking. She has wanted to visit the cooking school for several years. I was surprised just how much fun she had in the class. It was a great birthday gift. Thank you....

Does the general store operate on the same hours/days as the cooking classes? Can you shop without doing the class?

The vegetarians in my class received
vegetarian versions of each of the dishes to sample. However, the instructor did not demonstrate how to make the vegetarian version.

Are there any deals for if someone wants to take multiple classes? I want to take a week's worth of classes but that would get expensive at +$100 per class

It was certainly one of our favorites activities, in New Orleans, too. Dining in New Orleans is always a treat and it was fun to learn how to prepare some classic dishes. I think you will find a beverage you will enjoy.

Hi! Coming to NOLA for the first time with my husband and would love to do this but I am get SEVERE migraines from onions and have to completely avoid them. Are there any classes that I can prepare a dish without them?

The class I attended the celebrity chef did the cooking. He used onions in the preparation. There may be a class where you cook. In which case you could leave out onions. Mike

I do not think it would be appropriate for a 5 yr old unless they are very quiet, patient and don’t need entertained.
