George "Loki" Williams of Native Son Tours gave us an excellent and entertaining tour of the New Orleans Garden District. We enjoyed the insights and personal asides that come only from growing up and living in New Orleans. We highly recommend Mr. Williams to other visitors to New Orleans who want a more personal and very enjoyable tour of the city. We will be contacting him again when we return to New Orleans.

This tour was so much fun! Loki kept me engaged with his energy and personal anecdotes as it pertained to the history of his home. He was friendly with other locals, which was refreshing to see when you ask for a native New Orleanian to give you a tour. The pace of the tour was perfect and really took us all over the garden district which I had never seen and by the time it was over, I felt so much more knowledgeable about the people of New Orleans and why they love their home so much. Afterward, Loki introduced us to this great restaurant called Gris Gris that had the best shrimp and grits and gumbo ( it take 4 days to make it). I couldn’t have asked for a better time!

We took a two hour New Orleans mini bus tour. Our tour guide and driver was Lee.
It was so wonderful and enjoying and very reasonably priced. We learned so much and went all over the city. It was Informative, enjoyable, very comfortable, and Lee could not have been a better tour guide. There are lots and lots of options for New Orleans tours but we just happened to stumble on this company because of the reviews. What a great stroke of luck. We even referred some friends of ours to this tour company and they also thoroughly enjoyed their tour. Thank you once again for your excellent work, Lee!

A few of us were in New Orleans for a wedding and had an extra day to see the city. This was not the first time for any of us and we thought we'd do more than just drink this time. ;)
A friend recommended we all sign-up with a tour with Loki (of Native Son Tours) and we were not disappointed. First off, Loki was clearly very knowledgeable and always offered to tell us the myths as well as the actual story (informed by documented facts). He is clearly very knowledgeable about the city's history and I loved the fact that he was willing to point out the facts even when the myths were more captivating.
It also quickly become clear that Loki enjoys what he does. He is full of energy and exceptionally entertaining (ask him about his nickname!). We asked - and got - an adult tour with the appropriate language and sights. His quick wit made the tour a lot of fun... and I generally do not do or enjoy tours. If all tours were like this I'd be more inclined to do them.
As an added bonus, he had ponchos for all of us since there was a chance of rain. Nice touch and appreciated since it did rain. :)
Overall, I can highly recommend Native Son Tours. If you want a fun, engaging and knowledgeable guide contact Loki! Next time I am in New Orleans, I will definitely look him up again for another tour!

If you are looking for an entertaining and knowledgeable Tour Guide then George (Loki), of Native Son Tours is your man. Great tours with tibits of information only a born and bred, true New Orleanean would know told in an informal way, kind of like a walk around your college friends hometown. So much of the areas history is brought to life in the historically accurate stories, Loki even brings the proof of his tales with pdf'd documents and newspaper clippings!
While in town we took two different tours with Loki, both were excellent and well worth the time, money and exercise. Don't be let down by other tour companies have George (Loki) give you a tour, you won't regret it.

I took my eleven - year-old son on a French Quarter tour with Loki as our guide. He was recommended by a mutual friend of ours. He brings a charismatic blend of history and folk-lore that makes the stoic brick structures come alive with legends and mirth. His knowledge comes from not only life-long residency, but also from several generations of family history. He comes from hearty stock and should make for good breeding material. Also, he tailors the tour based on how seedy or pleasant you want your experience to be. I asked for a PG-13 kind of experience due to my sons' age and we got a tale, illustrated by the cityscape, of treachery, heroism, and disaster. Along the way, Loki pointed out famous people from the past and where they lived. ME HAD TIME GUUD! RECOMMEND IT!

We had the pleasure of going on a guided Native Son tour of the lower garden district this past Friday. George knows his history and enchants his tour participants as only a true native can At every corner he revealed another facet of rich New Orleans history. Even better, this is his home turf. He has intimate knowledge of many of the homes because they were part of his childhood. You can't get much better than that. I know there is more, so we will be back! Highly recommended!!

If you're looking for something specific and tailored to your interests when you are in New Orleans, then George at Native Son Tours is the man for you. He goes out of his way to accommodate your interests, takes you on some great detours, and looks out for his patrons - especially on very hot and humid days. The depth of his knowledge is vast and so natural, it felt less like a tour and more like a day on the town with a good friend you hadn't seen in awhile. No matter your interest - be it the ghosts and supernatural history, or the history of New Orleans as a whole - George has got you covered.

Twas a sunny, humid day in June when George met us at the local coffee spot to being our tour. He found the shady spots regaling us with tales in the cemetery: the origin of saved by the bell, why the graves are above the ground always, etc. Fascinating stuff even for the younger crowd. Being a native son he shared personal tales of his childhood and subsequent years at various spots in the Garden District. Shall I prick your interest with Commanders Palace and the house next door with the adjoining path or the history of the house chosen by Sandra Bullock or why aromas have been influential on garden plantings. His commentary and personality and humor lifted the muggy climate as we enjoyed standing beneath the huge oaks. Possibly sipping cooling water and/or iced coffee aided a bit. Well worth your time, your money.

Our guide Loki had so much great information about the city and its rich history! He also has family roots here which made his stories much more personal and relevant. Any topic or area of the city you are interested in, he can lead the way! I was able to create a custom experience based on my time and interest when my bigger group cancelled. Great guide in a great city! What more could you want.
