Although it's closed I have heard that there was a rumor that they'll be opening in a new location... I truly hope that they do we open somewhere else because the museum was absolutely phenomenal the wax Creations were truly lifelike

This is wax museum was so unique as it held the history of the Louisiana beginnings and displayed frame by frame how everyone of the cultures blended together to become one of the most diverse cities in the U.S. Each life size wax display was meticulously crafted and brought history to life. The best scene was the battle of New Orleans. With all the condemned properties in New Orleans, this had to be an on purpose offer to destroy the past. New Orleans was special but it is losing that which made it great. SAD SAD SAD!! This was a treasure.

The location has closed, but the figures and display pieces have been saved. Museum will re-open at a new location in 2018.

We visited this museum for two reasons; one, it was recommended by our Save Our Cemeteries tour guide as a good historic view of New Orleans and two, we’ve never been to a wax museum. We were able to join, by periphery, a tour with a class of third graders, which made the history even more interesting and understandable. We both thought it was worth both our time and the few bucks we spent to get in. By the time this is posted the museum will be closed; however, talking with one of the workers as we left, a couple of the folks in the museum at the same time as us, were apparently from other museums with possible new intended homes for the figures and displays.

It's too bad this place is closing the end of January 2016. I attended a wedding upstairs and it is a great venue place. When you have a venue there, you get full access to walk around and see the wax figure displays. This is nothing like Madame Tussaud wax figures. First off this place walks you the the good, bad, and ugly history of New Orleans. There are figures depicting war complete with wax figures shot/stabbed to death, slave trading, and then there's a horror hall too. This hall has everything from the Wolf man, to Dracula and Frankenstein, and the creature from the black lagoon. It was a fun, creepy (but mostly fun!), and beautiful place to have a venue. It will be missed!

Upon hearing that this museum would be closing by he end of the month, I felt the need to go. And I am glad that I did.
There is so much history to be seen. My kids (age 10) enjoyed it as well!

This is one of the best wax museums I have visited! So glad I got to experience it before it closes at the end of January. I really hope the amazing pieces can find a new home by some miracle. The building is being turned into a condo.
The elaborate scenes depict moments in local history, and the written narration made me and my friend laugh several times. Make sure you set aside enough time to read each caption (at least an hour!). It's equal parts educational, funny, and creepy. My favorite was Napoleon at bathtime :)
I feel lucky I got to check this out before it's closed for good.

Sad to hear this local haunt is closing. Lots of fun inside & loaded with history of New Orleans. Beautiful room upstairs available for parties & soirees.

This brought back a lot of memories. We both took field trips to this museum a couple of times. It gives you a great visual of Louisiana history. It's going to close in January so don't miss out!!

A fun little French Quarter experience. A bit of kitsch but my son (9 year old) loved it, and so did I. (I say kitch, but aren't all wax museums!)
A total of $22 for my son, my husband and I to enter. We had a solid hour of entertainment.
Must go soon...before this 50-year old museum is forever lost!

The Conti street location permanently closed in January 2016. We moved the wax figures and larger set pieces into storage and hope to re-open the museum at a new location by late 2018.

I hate to hear about your closing! I brought my kids when they were younger and they always loved it. I want to visit before you'll close. It is hard for me to stand in lines, what is the best day for me to go?
