Rachel ist eine sehr vorsorgliche Person. Sie liebt ihre Tier über alles !
Im Moment hat sie keine Faultiere bei ihr, das ist ein gutes zeichen. Ist empfehlenswert vorbei zu schaunen!

This was such a fun experience! My 7 year old daughter was amazed at all the monkeys and other petting animals. Watch out for Pepito. Lol!

La atracción principal del lugar era el leopardo pero falleció...
Tienen pocos animales , los monos me dieron miedo pues son agresivos, huele un poco mal el lugar y nos paso una situación rara pues la señora tenia un mono bebe y se escondió por la bulla de los monos grandes y de la nada la sra se metió 2 puñetazos en su rostro 😰 me dio un poco de miedo ... pero pobre sra quizás es mucho estrés hacerse responsable de los animales.
Fue hermoso ver las zarigüeyas y al perezoso ...

Very Nice Experience!

We visited Raquel and her rescue animals this morning! Super authentic lady that cared greatly for the animals entrusted to her care. Our daughter loved holding the sloth and petting the other well cared for animals. This is not a fancy well funded place, just a wonderful lady doing great things with few resources! Will definitely go back❤️❤️❤️

Sweet sloth

Raquel was authentic and informative. The sloth was so sweet. The animals were well cared for and lucky to be there. Recommend the experience. The drive is an experience all by itself.

Heart warming experience

I learned about Rachel's ark during a trip to Bocas del Toro and it was just as described. We went with the intention of seeing a sloth because my partner loves them and we actually got a chance to hold the sloth! That was the most beautiful creature Ive seen.
Rachel is in my eyes a hero, she takes care of this animals like it was her own family. There is no fee to get in, but you are welcome to leave a donation for the sanctuary. She has many other exotic animals there like monkeys, a jaguar, exotic birds etc, but the highlight for us was the sloth. What an experience!

Unique and interesting experience

Raquel's Ark is a home to orphaned and/or injured and/or rejected exotic pets that cannot return to the wild. Raquel is the kind-hearted (and humorous) woman who takes care of the animals. She patiently took the time to introduce us to all the animals and tell us their individual stories. We enjoyed our visit. The highlight was definitely meeting and holding Jesse the sloth. :)

Held a Sloth!

One of the highlights of my 2-month stay in Panama! Holding a sloth was very special. Raquel obviously loves these animals, who seem quite content and healthy. Although Raquel let me hold Jessie the Sloth for a couple of minutes, it was obvious that the Sloth's comfort was priority. As soon as she showed a sign of wanting to end our hug, Raquel was sure to respect Jessie's need. I loved that! Thank you Raquel.

Mixed Feelings…

Mixed feelings about this one. Love the fact Raquel is taking the time to care for the animals BUT if these animals are injured and in recovery I believe they should be released after they are well again. Isn’t that the way it usually works if the animals are capable enough? I did not see a single animal with any considerable injuries. But I may be wrong. Here on TripAdvisor it states that donation are welcome but when we got there, before we stepped in, a beautiful little girl (Camil) greeted us with a big smile and said “the donation is 20 dollars please….” So much for a donation…

I cant say the animals were in a bad state but I can’t say they were in an ideal state either. The 200 lbs Jaguar for example, it lives in a way too small and flimsy cage. Im sure if that pussy cat feels the need to get out he could…At least that’s the feeling i got. If you go with little kids MAKE SURE you keep an eye on them because poking a finger through the single fence would not be the prettiest site.

They have several cappuccino monkeys and a local Titi monkey which I have to say I loved. Love Titi monkeys. The monkeys were well kept in my opinion.

The sloths? Well, there was only one since the second one had to be put down due to a very strong infection apparently. The remaining sloth was a beautiful female that loved to be petted and fed flowers and tucked away in her red blanket.

I personally like the little possum like animal that loved to climb up my arm and down my back… Not sure of the name of these little jumpy things.

In general I think its ok but the Jag needs to go to a bigger place or exported to a proper zoo. I simply believe it could be an accident in progress, given the fact that it’s a single fence cage. You step and he steps out in a blink of an eye.

I would love to see that some of the proceeds go to pay for little Camils’ education. She is 14 and still not in school…..

Would I go back? Not sure, maybe…
