When we visited, we were told that Raquel passed away a couple of months ago. There were I think 5 animals that had not been re-homed yet because only Raquel had permits. We were sad to hear this. CALL BEFORE YOU GO.

Unique monkey experience

The only animals Raquel had when we visited were two spider monkeys, one howler monkey, a capuchin monkey, and parrot, all enclosed within the backyard of her residentially located home. She said that the sloths had died and she is waiting for the government to place her with an orphan. We were able to go into the spider monkey enclosure and let the monkeys explore our pockets and take pictures with them. That was the neatest part of the experience. The howler monkey was clearly Raquel’s personal pet as she had it leashed (which included an Apple air tag on the collar) and carried it around. We were not able to enter the capuchin monkey enclosure; instead, we stood outside as it threw straw at us and paced. We briefly held the parrot for a quick photo op. Raquel was sincere in her efforts and the animals were well taken care of, but it was not the “refuge” that we thought it would be.

Don't listen to previous reviews who just come expecting to see sloths - these are nasty, hateful people...

Raquel's Ark is an exceptional organization that has made a significant impact in providing a safe haven for exotic animals in Panama. Raquel's mission to protect and rehabilitate these animals is truly commendable.

It is heartwarming to see how Raquel has dedicated herself to ensuring the well-being of these orphaned animals. She is a genuine person who cares greatly for animals in need. Even with very few resources, her efforts in providing medical care and rehabilitation services are crucial in giving these animals a second chance at life.

Her dedication to this cause is truly inspiring. Her selfless work can be seen as a reflection of doing God's work on earth by caring for these innocent creatures.

I highly recommend supporting Raquel's Ark and her noble mission. By doing so, you will contribute to the well-being and conservation of exotic animals, making a positive impact on our environment.

Raquel animal carer

He showed us and told the story of the monkeys and lemur. It is a small space where you have contact with the Animals. He takes care of them to reintegrate them into their habitat.

Rescue center or pets?

I am sure that raquel loves animals, no doubt. But when we visited there were 4 animals of which 3 monkeys who where there more or less period / as a pet. One monkey went sort of crazy so we quickly ran out of its cage. It was a bit scary. The Lemure is a nocturnal animal and the sloth died so eventualy there was not so much to learn or see.

Heat braking,This place should be shut down

This place is a disaster there are no sloths they have pasted away .The jaguar was taken away by the government and also has pasted away.The cages are very dirty.We all left with tears in are eyes.I feel so bad for the monkeys that are still there

Rachel ist eine sehr vorsorgliche Person. Sie liebt ihre Tier über alles !
Im Moment hat sie keine Faultiere bei ihr, das ist ein gutes zeichen. Ist empfehlenswert vorbei zu schaunen!
