这是Custer State Park 的一个湖。
在零度的气温下，我们沿湖走了半圈，实在太冷了就逃回车里去了。
看看这一幅幅的黑白水墨画多美啊。
道路穿越的是一个山洞，我们开车通过了这个山洞。
想不到这云雾缭绕的湖这么的宁静而神秘……

开始我们不太确定来这里是否值得，但是，考斯德州立公园真是一个美丽的惊喜。我们下了高速公路进入公园，公园非常漂亮。因为现在是淡季，百货商店仍然关闭。这里的景色和野生动物都非常值得一看。在这里很放松。很期待下次再来。

我们现在已经去了wildlife loop路两次，相隔几年。在最近的一次旅行中，我们看到了野牛、鹿和羚羊。野牛离你很近，你可以很容易地从车里给它拍照。强烈推荐这次旅行。

这绝对是我在美国最喜欢去的地方。任何告诉你南达科他州单调乏味的人都没有去过布莱克山!每个家庭都至少需要在这里度假一次，而公园是该地区最好的观光场所，有这片区域提供的一切。野生动物，徒步旅行，狩猎，风景和历史都在这一位置。它也接近许多景点，如拉什莫尔山，疯马纪念馆，美国熊之乡，以及历史遗迹，如枯木。在你的一生中，你绝对必须至少参观一次考斯德州立公园!我已经去过并逗留在公园至少20次，我计划参观更多次。

我们在隆冬时节开车穿过公园……每年的这个时候没什么活动。驾驶通过了一些有野生动物的环路，并发现了一只孤独的野牛。这是我们一天中最精彩的部分。由于时间的关系，我们没有走完整个公园。针道在每年的这个时候都是关闭的，所以我们还得再找个时间来体验一下。一定会再来……很美。

Planning a trip next summer with our must see's being Badlands, Custer State Park, Mt. Rushmore, Deadwood, Yellowstone, Zion and Bryce. We have 2 nights reserved at Custer State Game Lodge and 2 nights at Yellowstone. I have decided we will fly in rather than drive from WV. Any suggestions for a great itinerary - please share. I have no idea how much time I need to plan for each of the areas and anything that is a must see. We are not "hikers" - mostly want to view scenery and wildlife, but are able to walk 1-2 miles if needed. Thanks!

The Badlands was also fantastic. The landscape makes you feel like you’re on a different planet. I’ve done extensive travel over the course of my life, and I recommend the Badlands. Again, we were there in late October, and they were very few people.

Has anyone had any experience with the Chuckwagon Dinner? Trying to decide between doing just the half day trail ride that includes lunch or the 2 hour trail ride plus the dinner. Thank you!!!

Looking to rent a camping cabin and trying to decide between Bluebell and Stockade South! Anyone have any options on them?

We stayed in Custer and drove into the Stockade lake area. I never heard of Bluebell but Stockade is really close to the wildlife loop in Custer park.
If you enjoy seeing animals I would take a close look at Stockade.

Yes, u can but it will be tight time wise. All three activities are very interesting and even though they are not far apart, the roads are winding and there is a lot of wildlife, sometimes right on the road. It can be slow going but lots of fun!

Trying to decide if the Black Elk Trail 9 is an ok trail for my kids (age 17, 13, 9, & 8.) We are an athletic family and last year did a 6 mile bike ride on the southern rim of the grand canyon, so we love family physical activities. But hiking to Black Elk Peak (Harney Peak) may be a different, more difficult challenge, than what we are used to. Can an 8 & 9 year old handle the challenge of the Black Elk Trail 9 to the peak?

We hiked the trail in September and saw a number of families going up as we were going down. I don't know how many made it to the top though.
Are you familiar with the Alltrails app? A number of people recently posted there of hiking with children. It could help you decide.
We didn't think the trail was exceptionally steep, but it can be a long way.

Looking all over the Custer State Park website and cannot find when the park actually opens or Rangers start taking money at the entrance…what is the earliest we can get in and head to the Wildlife Loop?

The road is always open. The ranger post does have hours. However we went early in the morning to see animals. There was no problem except for construction in September.

So our plan for Sept 2022 is to arrive about 5am and get in line. I am curious as to how far the parking lot is from the viewing area..... either south or north.

Arrive earlier than 5am....bring chairs, dress appropriately as it is cold in a. Don't feed the wild animals...they are wild and if you encounter, remain in yr vehicle. Buffalo can charge you, donkeys can kick!!!!! Don't bring yr dog(s) dogs have the same scent as coyote which are natural enemies. Donkeys will charge, kick and kill yr dog. Have fun,....views and experience of a lifetime!

Can you see the corrals from the viewing areas on the day of the Great Buffalo Round-up or do you need to walk or drive to the corrals? Are there porta-potties near the viewing areas?

Viewing is limited from the road in your vehicle, unless on a tour or special arrangements. Regarding bathrooms, there is a welcome center, otherwise, you go where the Bison 🦬 go!

I will be staying at the State Game Lodge from a tour. I will not have a vehicle to move around in. Will I be able to rent a car? Does the lodge provide transportation within the park?
I would like to rent a car to go Rapid City from the lodge.

Considering hauling our ebikes for a 3 week trip to SD and Yellowstone. Will we be able to ride them enough to make it worth the haul from NC or is it easier to just rent when in areas we can or want to bike ride?
