Just like my other reviews in this town, this was the last place I stopped.
All self-guided, interesting place to learn about Jimmy Carters campaign.
If you’re coming through town you may as well visit all the sites.
Then head over to try the peanut butter ice cream at the peanut store

The Depot downtown Plains is another great preserved piece of Carter history. The depot offers a video on a console tv and pictures and artifacts of this buildings part in the election of Jimmy Carter.

What a rare building. They won the White House here. Right here. Real history happened here.

If you are a train enthusiast a train depot is always on a must stop list. Added bonus the ties to President Carter's run for office.

Although closed due to COVID, it was worth a visit to the exterior to see where the campaign organization started. I didn't realize how small it actually is. Easy walk from the "downtown" and Billy's Service Station. Loved it.

On our visit we were fortunate that a timber train stopped at the station to add to the atmosphere of what it might have been like when Carter ran for President. This was election central for Plains and is full of memories.

Definitely worth 15 minutes of your time to see where the President's campaign was run. Tiny place but holds amazing history. Billy's gas station is across the street.

This was smaller than I'd imagined, but interesting to find that the Carter Presidential Committee chose this building to be their main area for the election.....because it had a bathroom.
