Great girls trip! We had fun learning more about our home grown, one of our own… Jimmy Carter. It was an amazing time going back in time learning about the legacy and philanthropy of Jimmy.

This is part of the Jimmy Carter National Historical Park The building houses multi-room displays about education, children, housing, poverty, infectious disease and many other causes that the Carters have worked so hard, over the years, to bring to the forefront of our understanding, in an effort to improve living conditions in the US.
It is not showy and over the top.
I think it is quintessentially JImmy and Rosalynn Carter!

The school is part of the NPS and is a museum dedicated to Jimmy Carter and his school years, election and humantary efforts. Great place to stop and learn a bit of history and see a beautiful school that is stuck in time. Staff is very informative and you can get a map of the town showing were everything is in town. You can also get your passport stamped in the gift shop.

Nice to tour and see the preservation of Carter's former high school. As an educator, I found this so interesting.

It was fun to see where President Carter went to High School! He had a wonderful upbringing and the HS he attended added to that!

We visited plains Hs museum and jimmy's boyhood home. Both heart warming and learned about a president who has integrity and goodness. Both worthwhile to see the humbleness of plains. Very touching-well done.

This is like a museum of the Carter’s lives together. Very informational and interesting. Guides were helpful and answered all our questions.

Excellent museum! If you are heading to President Carter's Sunday School class, and you don't know much about him, this is a great place to get information before meeting him. First Lady Rosalynn's work supporting people with mental illness is also highlighted. If you buy a book from the bookstore, ask about mailing it to President Carter. He'll sign it and mail it back to you. President Carter does not do book signings at the church. I didn't know about the tremendous work the Carters have done through the Carter Center since leaving the presidency, until reading about it at the museum. They have truly bettered the lives of millions.

The Plains High School now serves as the visitor center for Jimmy Carter National Historic Site and a museum. The building, to include the brick facade, is well maintained. The large hall off the main entrance is home to the visitor center staff, while several of the old classrooms have been converted to museum displays providing information about Carter and his wife. One room is still set up as a classroom, and the old auditorium remains untouched.
Touring the school does not take long, and it's a good starting point when visiting this National Park Site.

This is the high school where Jimmy and Rosalyn attended. There's lots of memorabilia throughout and there's a nice clean bathroom outside.
Make sure you go in the auditorium and watch the 25 minute video that chronicles the election. It was VERY informative.
There's a little store on premise.
The folks working there were very helpful.

One day for the Plains sites. We also went to see President Carter teach Sunday School and visited some sites in Americus and the surrounding area, so we spent the weekend.
