Great resort, quite large and plenty of challenging reds but not many blacks if that is your thing. Never had a problem with signage before but at this resort we all really did have trouble for the first few days until we got our bearings. Easy to get stuck on the mountain which has never in all our years skiing happened but we did have to get a taxi from Scheffau one day. I think they have tried to put too much on one map, it would be better in half and having it double sided. Lifts all good and many have heated seats and covers for bad weather.

I've been to many of the villages in the SkiWelt area in the past. I was in Soll this year and enjoyed it as always.
A few friends have commented previously that navigation can be tricky. This time around I agree with them, the signage could be a lot clearer around Soll. E.g. It's surprisingly easy to miss the left turns for the 51 piste to take you back to Soll from lift 2. The lifts are numbered on the map but often have names with far less prominent numbers on the signs. One or two pistes aren't clearly marked in places which can make you question where the edge of the piste is. Missing a turn late in the day can leave you stuck in the wrong village!
The area is a little red heavy for beginners. Westendorf seems to be the best spot for learning.
The slopes down to Brixen are south facing and turn into a slushy mess in the afternoon and are best avoided. Black 1 was a slushy and has some farcical paths.
The villages are low but I like skiing below the tree line. It's not very cold at night and it's easy to access with a car--no snow chain nonsense.
I'd give it 5 stars if the signage was improved and they selected the music playing more carefully. I heard Eminem's colourful language on the 43 lift. I have no issue with that artist expressing himself but I don't want to hear him swearing away as children ride the lift or pass below. Tragically, there was a children's ski competition going on underneath that as he was "singing" referencing people having sex with their mothers.

Great holiday, in Soll - part of the SkiWelt extensive ski area - will revisit.
RESORT - picturesque, felt safe, with variety of good restaurants and bars for eating out and apres ski. Live music in bars most evenings.
Crystal Reps - available if needed, being friendly, informative and helpful.
SKIING - was excellent, easy access to lifts - free ski buses & only 15 minute walk to main gondola base station. No queuing for lifts. Recommend spending Eur 10 per person for ski depot garage underneath the ski hire shop, nearest the main gondola station (unless can ski back to accommodation)plenty of blue & red runs for beginners and intermediates, over which is why we chose Soll. Good skiing area with variety of runs - tour between nearby villages easily.
SKI SCHOOL - tuition was very good with my family experiencing 5 different instructors - all very good, spoke excellent English (many are English).
Special mention must go to Soll Ski School Instructor Phillip Saville - simply the best, professional, clear instruction/tips, encouraging and motivating all in group to improve, great personality and fun too, who took us on variety of slopes and tours of area. . Similarly thanks to Ski Instructor Yursten.
OVERALL - I would recommend Soll, Hotel Tyrol and the Soll Ski School.

Hello, how far in advance should I plan my ski trip? We’re planning on a January 2020 trip with a baby so planning in advance. When do hotels release their rooms for the next winter? When should I book skis, lift passes, childcare? Thanks everyone.

Hello,
I got a good deal on flights in June for following February.
It’s important to contact local tourist offices to compare ski lift prices, they vary a lot between resorts and depending on time of year.
The earlier you book hotels the better options such as childcare, family rooms you will have.
Proximity to ski lift or ski on ski out (check ability level) makes a big difference with kids. They don’t like to carry their equipment.
Check reviews on ski-schools before booking too. It may be worth considering private lessons for focus or group lessons. They all claim English speaking instructors but if the other kids in the group are all European they’re unlikely to make friends.

Dear Alex,
our ski resort starts at about 700 m and the highest point you can reach by gondola is 1.829 m (Hohe SAlve - reachable from SkiWelt Söll or Hopfgarten).
We have 284 km of daily prepared slopes and the longest run from the top to the village is about 7 km long. You are welcome to check out our interactive map on: skimap.skiwelt.at
If you have further questions you can reach us via email: office@skiwelt.at

Hello Karin,
SkiBus are quite regular in Soll. However, that depends on where you are staying. My experience in Soll is that the bus services are frequent. You might find more information on SkiBus from Skiwelt website.

Can be hit and miss this late into the season. It is best IMO and extensive experience of the area late Jan to mid Feb. Though massive dumps of snow in March are not unusual. There are extensive snow making facilities to keep the pistes going as it warms up through March but will get porridgy in the afternoons. Early beer and bath.

Hi! My husband and I will be spending 3 days visiting SkiWelt. This will be out first time skiing (we live in Florida). I have a few questions?
1 - Where can we rent ski jackets, boots, masks etc?
2 - Is there a place where we can go to learn the basics - like a ski class?
3 - I see there are 134Km of easy runs - are they suitable for first timers like me and my husband?
Thank you!!!

Hi
Apologize.I didn't go into this app until today.
I can answer only about the village we have been to,but I believe other villages around the mountain are the same, although from my experience you should go to the bigger ones, like Brixen am Thale, Soll and Scheffau.
For renting there are 2 major chains- "Intersport" and "Sport 2000". Not sure about renting a jacket.
There are ski schools. You will find them in town.
Cannot tell you about "easy" runs, but you can count on the ski school they will take you to the right place.
Enjoy.

Have just booked this area but am worried there will not be any snow there as there seems to be lots everywhere else in Europe!
Coming beginning of Feb 2017 - will there be great natural snow? Historically has there been?

Dear Yvette, we are glad to hear that you plan your holidays at SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental! We have plenty of possibilities for beginners. There are several exercise meadows in the valley (e.g. at Söll, Hopfgarten or Westendorf) and there are many blue runs also on the mountain in the ski resort - for example at Scheffau or Brixen. The best thing to do would be to check our website skiwelt.at where you can find all information. Also you can send us an e-mail to office@skiwelt.at with your holiday request for the accomodation :-) We look forward to welcoming you soon at SkiWelt!
