Huge park with plenty of trails. Nice spot for a morning walk or run as views are great. Also parking was free. I got a little turnaround a few times so I will like the loop trail could be marked a bit better. I would not go out of my way to visit but if looking for budget friendly and outdoor activity while i. Seattle it’s a perfect option. Easily could spend a few hours if you wanted to explore the whole thing.

This was the best thing to see in Seattle! Forget the over-hyped, expensive stuff. Bring water and lunch, spend the whole day seeing all the gorgeous gardens. We walked 6 hours and still didn’t see it all. Truly beautiful! Free, and we had a romantic picnic lunch with lovely views.

The hike was good but the “waterfall” was just a trickle of water down a rock. There was a lot of elevation changes and the path was well maintained.

Great park to walk, lots of trails, nothing too steep. Plenty of trees (obviously) for shade. Several different spots to stop and look at stuff and plenty of benches to sit.

We chose to visit the state park instead of the Olympic Sculpture Park because the state park has a nice Japanese Garden and offers many walking trails for us on a nice Sunday afternoon. The Japanese Garden is the flagship feature and main attraction overall. Even though it requires admission fee it is still worth a visit. After the Japanese Garden we enjoyed walking on some of the trails. We took the public transit from our hotel to the park as the transportation network in Seattle is very convenient.

The arboretum, particularly the Japanese Garden, is beautiful to visit on a nice, sunny day. The variety of plants and educational signage is top notch, and it is a great place for a stroll or jog. Do beware of car break-ins in the parking lot, however. I visited on Thanksgiving Day in 2023 and my vehicle was broken into and a bag containing my cash, credit cards, and passport stolen. No one witnessed the event, despite it occurring in broad daylight. The Staff did not hear anything as well, and the booth unfortunately does not face the lot. I later saw broken glass in a different area of the parking lot. It seems to be a popular place in Seattle for car break-ins. Be sure not to leave any important items in your vehicle.

I visited Washington Park Arboretum first time. Though I go to the wrong side of the Arboretum and not found the right garden I wanted to see, but I found the friendly local person to help me find out the direction. I was touched. There were also many plants I didn’t know. Hope I will see it again in some days in the future.

Large park, over 200 acres, free and open dawn to dusk.
We got a bus to the park, about half an hour from city. This drops you and the bottom of the park. Easy walking paths, most wide. A map at this point would be useful, as if you start here, the visitor centre isn’t until you are almost half way round which wasn’t much help. Toilets here and two others but all on the same side of the park.
Very green space, nice for a walk away from the city but wasnt really worth the effort as a tourist. Would be better in the spring with flowering Rhododendrons maybe. The Japanese garden is at the end nearer to where the bus stopped and has its own car park. There is a charge for this garden, but it isn’t the greatest example.

Car was broken into. Beware. Trees were pretty and we spent about an hour total. But not worth the loss of our stuff.

Absolutely incredible! Coming from the east coast I was blown away by the size and variety of trees. The trails are great and variation in elevation made for some breathtaking scenes to enjoy.

Have fall colors started? Which area is better within the park to watch the colors?
撰写日期:2022年10月15日
During the spring, summer, and fall it can get very busy. If you go early in the morning or late in the afternoon or early evening you should be able to find parking. There are several parking lots located in different spots around the arboretum. Weekends this time of year are the busiest.

Leash only on trails, not allowed in certain areas like the Japanese Garden

There's a very limited amount of parking inside the park. The largest lot is at the Japanese Tea Garden. There's another one over by the info center. The last "big" one is just north of the info center but may be closed off due to construction in the area (6/2016). A couple of small (5-20 vehicles) lots are just off the main road, one near the overpass and another closer to the tea garden. Otherwise you can find parking near the south entrance on E. Madison or in the residential areas just to the west. Arriving early makes finding a spot easier.

In agreement with the other postings about the length of time. As a photographer I would likely take at least 2 hours stopping to take pictures. If you are planning on seeing the Japanese Garden, then add more time in. I actually have gone to the Japanese Garden separately from the arboretum. If you get the opportunity to do the tea ceremony, I highly recommend it. It is very much a part of my culture and it reminds us to slow down.
