Wonderful museum! Exciting special exhibitions. I read an article in the New York Times about the ways in which museums are creating immersive experiences that engage visitors senses. I was excited to see that the National Nordic Museum was featured in that review. When I visited, I found Fischersund Faux Flora to be an amazing, creative, and innovative exhibition that engaged my senses and stimulated creative thought. Congratulations to the artists; I understand this is a world premiere exhibition of the Fischersund Collective’s work.
It’s surprising to find a museum of the National Nordic Museum’s quality in Ballard. The quality of its exhibitions and programs easily competes with museums in US culture capitals such as New York, Washington D.C. and San Francisco. The museum’s exhibitions and programming totally live up to the National designation that was awarded to the museum by the US Congress in 2019!
The National Nordic Museum is a must see when you visit Seattle and is worth making a special trip to the Pacific Northwest! Seattle’s National Nordic Museum is easily the best museum in the Pacific Northwest—and among the best in the nation!

Very educational. Not a whole bunch to see but plenty for enjoyment. It's a quick stop. We where in there for maybe 30 minutes and we did take our time reading up on everything. Staff was very friendly as well.

This is a beautiful building with thoughtful exhibits that give excellent insight into the culture of Seattle and how it was shaped by Nordic immigrants. We also enjoyed the photography installation. Makes a nice day in Ballard with the Locks and lunch at Ray’s! Expect to spend about an hour-90 minutes. My teens weren’t all that excited by it.

My husband and I were visiting Ballard for the day and decided to walk from our hotel to the National Nordic Museum. The museum itself is beautifully designed and the exhibits are extremely informative. I enjoyed the video elements incorporated throughout the exhibits and the interactive elements. Overall it was a great way to spend an hour or two learning about the rich Nordic heritage in the area. I would highly recommend it to others to check out!

This museum was a short walk from our AirBnB. It was more than we were expecting and a nice way to spend a few hours. Very informative.

Recently visited the museum with friends. It was not as captivating as I had hoped it would be. Basically it’s a typical walk through, read and view memorabilia. Did enjoy their theatre with the film showing scenery in the countries represented. Also, enjoyed hearing about local connections and businesses.

The Nordic museum is worth visiting to learn about the history of the immigrants to the North Pacific West from all the Scandinavian countries ca 150 years ago. Kids would enjoy the Viking exhibit.

Lovely museum and in a part of Seattle worth exploring. Ballard is the home of fishing fleets, so it makes perfect sense to have a Nordic museum there.

This museum is at least a thirty minute drive from where we are staying in Seattle but we decided to give it a chance. The building is very lovely. Parking is cheap right next to it. The exhibits unfortunately are boring. I think it would have been better to have separate exhibits for different countries instead of lumping them together. There is a wall of videos with no sound only subtitles which they likely did so the noise would not disturb other exhibits. It is strange because in one video a woman is singing and banging a drum and you can’t hear her. The cafe was no longer serving food as they need to find a new vendor.
