Even though the weather is a bit chilly, a tent has been set out behind the convention center so we can get some fresh air while eating or working on a laptop. I noticed people walking through into a tree lined area, and decided to explore. In fact I was most pleased to see the walks comprised the Freeway Park. The shrubs and trees were expertly maintained and were sporting a variety of autumn colors. Street signs point out exits to the surrounding streets and thoroughfares. The views could make on forget about being in the center of the city, though at midday the constant hum of traffic is unavoidable. Overall it was a nice break from being inside for meetings.

This park was probably quite impressive at one time, but now the fountains no longer run, and the pools of water are strewn with trash. Still, the contemporary concrete pillars and walls are interesting. The trees and flowers are still lovely and lush, and the park is a quiet space to wander away from the crowds. And it's free.
Looks like the city has allocated funds to do some refurbishing, so hopefully this park will once again be a showpiece.

My 9 year old & I spent an hour wandering, chatting about greening our cities, sustainability, the importance of beauty in functional structures... It was a nice morning with no thoughts of getting to the office or checking email, looking for new toys or asking for treats.

Needed diamond in the rough. Engineering marvel since built into the freeway. Has a contemporary design & like the use of the waterfalls. It helps to neutralize the freeway noise. It is bigger than what you first encounter after exploring around. Obvious though that it could use some regular policing for whatever since the crevices will show evidence of man made litter and worse. Some reminiscent of a NY subway stairwell. Outside of this, it is worth a stroll and very close to downtown.

Freeway Park is a unique Urban Park in a great spot.from all points in the park you can hear the hissing of the Interstate 5 freeway. It's a nice stop if walking from waterfront up Seneca Street to Broadway.

I have been to Seattle over a dozen times and finally got to visit Freeway Park for the first time. I have never seen such a unique park. Built over Interstate 5, it is a respite in the city. I especially enjoyed the unique fountain wall. It is a hidden gem that is worth a visit.

I heard numerous stories (about its past) about this place and it was in my list to visit. Its constructed over InterState 5 highway. I admired the beautiful architecture and lot of greenery. It has the staircase, wheelchair access so its suitable for all sort of people. Don't miss the brutalist fountain...!!

If you wanna see a real Seattle must see "hidden" kinda place come see Freeway Park.No, for real, it is cool and right above the freeway (I- 5)
I know people who live here and have never even been here haha.
The other reviewers are correct only come here during the daytime safe light hours as there are lots of hiding places and you need to pay attention when you are here as this can sometimes be a hangout place for some drug people.
But there are places to sit and read and there are plants and flowers here and beers and birds and sometimes dragonflies or hummingbirds and stuff like that and it is a cool kinda "hidden in plain sight" place that even though it is printed in pamphlets and other literature for some reason not a lot of people know about this park.
I know people who live here and have never even been here haha.

This is a park hidden in plain sight. It is located over I 5 and right next to the convention center. But most people have no idea that it's a park when looking at it from the outside. It is most definitely worth a visit.

Like to go in March, since flowers are early where the light reflects from the Convention center. Quiet place in the middle of town to get some sun or read.
