We thought about getting on the hop on/hop off but decided against it after reading the reviews. A local mentioned the monorail and the light train as an alternative that was cheaper and easier to use we are glad we did it. Saved a ton of money and time walking.

It’s a short but fun ride! We had purchased transit cards to get around Seattle so it was pretty convenient actually. But if you just want to purchase a ticket for only the monorail you could do that at several kiosks

Fun way to get from shopping mall to space needle quickly. Tickets easy to purchase. Trains are clean. Would definitely recommend it.

I'm kind of a sucker for monorails, but I was impressed that this one was spacious, fast, and clean. I didn't find fare to be too bad either. At least it saved us some walking. I feel it's a must-do for tourists, and great remnant of the World's Fair.

We could have walked to the Space Tower but what fun to take the monorail (1960s idea of the future?). It was quite amazing to glide smoothly between the buildings at elevation a very different view of the city

Fun little monorail that only has 1 stop. Took it from around the corner of our hotel to the glass museum. Kids really enjoyed it but be prepared very short trip.

We went on the monorail from the Seattle center to the Space needle. It was a short ride. You can use your Orca card to ride it or buy a ticket from the kiosk.
It runs on a time schedule that's fairly regular so your not waiting to long.
Its nothing to exciting, most seats have a decent view.
Have a ride on it if you need to get to from A to B, but I wouldn't chase it for anything special.

Easy to get tickets and a nice way to get from downtown to uptown. Would recommend if you've never done it, particularly for kids/tourists.

We were staying at a hotel next to the Westlake Centre and wanted to go to the Space Needle. The station is in Westlake (on the other corner from our hotel) The monorail provides a non stop service between Westlake and the Space Needle ( mind you that is a little misleading as there are only two terminus stations on the line!)
The journey takes less than 4 minutes and costs $3.50 per person one way. It is worth noting that the monorail ticket machine only talked credit cards and does not allow for cash sales. It is totally safe and a great way to see Seattle from a raised height.
It is also worth saying that this monorail operates with the same rollover stock as it started with, back in 1962 when it was built to celebrate Seattle hosting the World Trade Fair.

An easy and convenient way to go from downtown to the Space Needle. This is a cheap and easy way to travel. One way ride was $3.50 per person. Very clean and comfortable... Highly recommend it.

Can u park at Space Needle and catch monorail? How long can u park there?

From my recollection, parking around the Space Needle is available. There is street parking but I don't remember the time limits or if it's metered. There are probably a few parking lots within a few blocks, but be aware that parking in Seattle is very expensive, especially around the tourist areas such as Seattle Center (which is where the Space Needle, Chihuly, MOPOP, etc. are). I would recommend checking the Seattle Center website, it probably has parking information.

The Spheres are worth a specific visit, with a great view from the exterior, and free access to the exhibits on the lower level of the building. We did walk there from the Downtown Monorail location in less than 10 minutes. The Spheres were not viewed/seen during the Monorail ride itself.

Yes - entrance is on second floor of mall. Look up and you will see monorail on East side of mall. There is a separate entrance just for monorail where you can walk up or take elevator or you can enter from mall.

The monorail is just for commuters within Seattle. Amtrak Rail runs a daily train service between Seattle and Vancouver.

It finishes at King Street station. Which is near the stadiums. You walking distance to Pioneer square and the waterfront. Probably 1/2 mile + to Westlake mall where the Monorail runs to Seattle Center.

Is there free parking at the monorail west lake station? We're trying to figure out where we can park our car for free to possibly take the monorail to Pike Place.

The Monorail does not go all the way to Pike Place, but is an interesting ride between the Seattle Center & Westlake. Then Pike Place Market, which is for walking around, is only a few blocks away. To my knowledge, there is little free parking anywhere in Seattle, especially near sightseeing venues.
