Everyone at the visitor center was helpful and friendly! I was able to sign up to tour Lincolns house. Aguide walks you through the historical street to Lincolns house and allows you inside. There is a large gift shop inside with plenty of items to buy. It was a good place to start before visiting all the Abraham Lincoln attractions.

A day of sight-seeking in Springfield, Illinois, which includes all of the Abraham Lincoln historic sites and concludes with a visit to the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, almost has to begin with a stop at the Lincoln Home Visitor Center at 426 S. 7th Street, down the street from the Lincoln Home National Historic Site at 8th and Jackson. Free tickets with assigned times to visit the home must be picked up at the visitor center, which is the base of the four-square block pedestrian zone that makes up Lincoln's Neighborhood. It contains 12 structures that have been restored to their 1860 appearance. Three can be visited by the public. Of course, the centerpiece is the Lincoln home, which is accessed by guided tour only. The park film, "Abraham Lincoln: A Journey to Greatness," is screened on the hour and half-hour in Theater 1 of the visitor center. Open from 8:30 to 5 daily, the visitor center features restrooms and a gift shop thats sells books, gifts and souvenirs. It also offers exhibits and brochures. Park rangers are always accessible to answer questions.

Visitor center is located near the Lincoln Home historic site and surrounding neighborhood. Tickets to take the tour are obtained at this location, which offers the tours for free (although there's a limited number of people allowed on each tour). There's also a short movie available to watch prior to taking the tour.
Small gift shop available in the center as well. Nice variety of items, although most of which are Lincoln themed and/or related.

The National Parks Service have done an amazing job here. The visitor centre offers a talk from one of the guides about Lincoln then they take you to his home. the tour is not rushed and there is plenty of time to take in all the rooms and take photos and ask questions. The whole street has been recreated to look as close to how it would have looked when Lincoln lived there. There are other houses you can look into on your own that have exhibits in them. Very interesting to see Lincoln's home and learn more about the man.

my husband and I arrived at visitors center next to Lincoln home to get our free timed tickets.....before our time, we watched a quick movie about President Lincoln....wasnt very long before our turn to walk thru the Home. we had a very very good guide, as he was giving a lot of information about the rooms in each of the Lincoln home. this is a must see. it wasn't crowded, and truly is a historic GEM in the city of Springfield.....thank you Robert Lincoln for donating this family home/his stipulation was that all whom visit/it would be free to all to walk thru....great way to honor your family.....loved our visit to Springfield...so many treasures to see.......... :) :)

Friendly and Helpful staff! We watched a short film and then took a tour. Learned a lot about Lincoln's life before his Presidency. If you have children with you, there is a spot with old-fashioned lawn games. A must-do along with the Presidential Library when in town. All Lincoln sites with the exception of his tomb are within 6/10 mile of each other. If you need a food or snack break between the Library and Home, I suggest Cafe Moxo.

Ted did an awesome job on our tour. This place is free and gives plenty of historical information about Abraham Lincoln and his family as they lived in Springfield, Illinois. Well worth the visit. There are good restaurants within walking distance, too.
