Went to shop for a new bike, man working that section was aware of our presence and refused to acknowledge us (we were the only people in that section) he was rude to our daughter

Superb service just like the Springfield Illinois location. Manager of women's clothing personally assisted in picking out the perfect swimsuit(hides my bulges!!)

This place was recommended for families which made me curious as it is an Outdoor Supplies store. So we had to check it out. First of all, it has a 3 story ferris wheel, a children's play center, an arcade area and a candy store! Another plus is that they have a dedicated Mother's Nursing room. What I found most interesting is that they allowed dogs and we had to have seen at least a dozen of all sizes. Our only purchase was fudge and some BBQ spice but it s a must to see.

This place is not just a sporting goods store, It's an experience! There is something for everybody here. Clothing, Home Decor, Toys, Pet supplies, etc... There is a beautiful Ferris Wheel and an arcade shooting range for the kids (Or big kids in our case 😀). They have a restaurant and a candy store for a full meal or just a sweet treat. Plan on spending at least 2 hours here, as there is so much to see.
The only complaint I have, Is that we paid $60 for a Scheels logo heavy sweatshirt. Since it was a deep burgundy, I washed it on gentle cycle and cold water separately. It took hours to clean my washing machine of all the loose fuzz that came off that shirt! It's like it totally disintegrated. Definitely not worth the hefty price tag for that shabby of quality.

I learned of Scheel's on TripAdvisor prior to our trip to Springfield. Took my kids (7 and 10) to check it out. I'm almost embarrassed to admit how much time we spent in this store and didn't even walk the whole place! The kids rode the Ferris Wheel, played a few arcade games, visited the candy store, took advantage of the 2 lane bowling alley, play area, checked out the fish tanks, etc, etc, etc! I practically had to drag them out of the store! Needless to say, we'll be back next time we're in the area!

No matter, what one's idea of a super store is, one thing about Scheels is certain: this store is very impressive. Located in 15 states of the country -- this chain store has gone through 120 years of commercial success, and this success of Scheels Outfitters is going on now.
In Springfield Illinois, Scheels super store opened in 2011. The store is fantastically designed, not only offering customers the abundance and variety of sporting goods, clothing and footwear, but also making the store look very inviting and customer-friendly. There are many attractions in Scheels: a huge aquarium with beautiful tropical fish, a 65 ft. tall Ferris wheel in the center of a spacious atrium, an interesting historic presentation of the past, with the statues of several US Presidents, a unique Nature Class with a mountain display with taxidermy mounts, an eye-catching recreation of a Fairchild float plane.
There are two bowling alleys (play Rollerball!), various sections with hunting gear, trendy apparel (for men and women) for outdoor activities, sections with clothing and toys for children. There's also a bright-colored candy shop, to enhance and literally sweeten one's shopping experience!
The high-end merchandise prices didn't taint my overall great impression of this super store: after all, we pay for quality. The long history of Scheels also shows the strength of entrepreneurial spirit of the founder Frederick A. Scheel and his successors, their ongoing strive for innovations, that ultimately results in the gratifying success in business.
I enjoyed walking around the store, visited a cafe and a candy shop; I also had a chance of talking to the store staff and management -- and everybody was very friendly and courteous, attentive and helpful.
During the last twelve months I visited Scheels several times, and I enjoyed spending my time and shopping in this mega store. Wishing you success in the future. Thank you!

Used to have a good customer service we’re in the middle of a holiday and employees literally are looking at you and walking in the other direction. No assistance at all normally you’re over killed with assistance. Drove 40 minutes. Not worth it

We recently travelled to Springfield on personal business during the pandemic/lockdown. Were very excited to stop in here and spend some money. However, we were the only 2 people wearing protective face masks. We were followed everywhere and treated very rudely, even refused help with guns. Staff needs retraining. We wore masks to protect others including the employees of the stores during covid-19 and in return were treated very disrespectfully, like thieves. it was very obvious. We left dissappointed and not spending as much as we had wanted...and this during a time when businesses, workers and the economy desperately need the stimulis. This company needs re-training and an attitude adjustment on how best to serve customers during this pandemic. Wearing protective masks to protect themselves as well as to their customers is also needed.

There were a lot of interesting items to see. They had about everything that you could want in the realm of sports, indoor and outdoor. We did not purchase much of anything because the prices were way out of line in comparison to other stores.

We like this store for many of our outdoor needs. The quality of the soft goods is far better than average and they carry some brands difficult to find elsewhere in Springfield.
Their new firearms selection is very good and they carry a pretty good variety of ammo in the popular calibers. For the more exotic guns and ammo they are not likely to carry these items in stock. Their used firearms are pricy and limited. Local gun stores are a better source for these items.
Their cafe is pricy but they have a few items that are unique and well worth the price. We like their wild berry sandwich.

There are two restaurants within walking distance of Scheels. To the north is III Tomassos Italian Bistro (good food - we like this place) and to the south is Engrained Brewing Company which is a brew pub.
