Oh it is quite impressive. I think the best part is when they turn on the actual machines, you hear the noise and imagine the heat / humidity for 12 hour shifts, and the overall poor working conditions these women dealt with just for a decent wage. It's also an amazing display of what the early industrial revolution was able to engineer, bringing to life a sea change in how the nation (and the world) got both its textiles as well as began to switch from an agrarian economy.

Really interesting museum which is really worth a visit. We arrived just as they were giving a talk and demonstration of the looms and it’s fantastic to see a whole room of machines in operation. You can really experience what it would have been like to work there. It is very noisy but they give you ear plugs and if you don’t like the noise you can move on into the museum. I don’t think anyone did in our group. The museum itself is on the next floor and very well done. The Rangers are very knowledgeable and explain how the various machines worked. There’s a big model of the complete mill in operation and we had an excellent talk on all the processes that went on there. Low entrance fee so excellent value. We parked in the John Street multi-storey over the road which was so easy and the charge was 2$ an hour. We were able to walk to the Boarding House which has free entry where you see how the girls who worked in the factory lived. We just wish we’d had longer so we could have visited the Quilt museum too.

This museum is so impressive and well worth the price. Very interesting and interactive exhibits. I wish I had had more time available in my schedule to spend here! Staff was very friendly and knew so much about the history of the place.

Excellent tour with wonderful rangers and educational staff. This really showed the perspectives of various groups impacted by the cotton industry and the rise of industrialization.

Very interesting presentation of the history of industry in America. I had no idea of the significance of cotton milling in Lowell until I visited this museum. The setting of all the machinery running provided a terrific visualization.

Our trip to the Mill Girls Boarding house and the Boott Cotton Mills was highly informative, introducing us to a place and time we knew nothing about and were startled to learn about the working conditions in the mill and the fortitude of the women, and eventually men, who worked there.
The docent at the Boarding house was engaging and passionate about the Mill Girls and their plight. She was wonderful, answering all our questions. The exhibits are very good.
The cotton mill was amazing, seeing weaving machines in action. Give yourself plenty of time to view the rest of the museum as you learn the process from cotton picking to textile product. Definitely watch the video presentation in the theater as you hear about the working conditions for mill workers in the 20th century.
Helpful Facts: Fully air conditioned, elevators, restrooms, water fountains. $6 adults/ $4 seniors at the mill, while the Boarding house did not require a fee.
Parking: plenty of on street parking within a block or 2 of the sites. Some spots were metered, many were not. I parked a block over and walking took just a few minutes.

Excellent museum that highlights the history of Lowell and it’s industrial past. Very engaging exhibits and very friendly staff. The guide Nadia Peattie deserves a special mention for her enthusiasm, knowledge and dedication to this historic site. Her explanations and demonstration of the hand loom, for example, made the visit super special. Thank you!

Very transparent about how loud the huge machines are, thank you. Incredibly educational, immersive, and well laid out experience. Beautiful location and building, wonderfully preserved. Good for ALL AGES!

A dive into the Industrial Revolution. This museum was fascinating. I loved the weave room. Only 10 machines were running and it was incredibly loud. Cannot imagine 200 machines running as they were in 1910's. Mike, the docent, was so knowledgable about the looms and how they work. We learned so much. This a fantastic self-guided tour.

It’s a fascinating museum about the history of the Lowell mills. The first floor includes hundreds of cotton weaving machines, including several operating. With just a handful running, it’s almost deafening and hard to imagine working here for 50+ hours per week. The second floor has detailed exhibits on how the machines operated, the integrated cotton-to-fabric process and the different jobs at the mills and the history of the mills. It’s thorough but not overwhelming.
Two star deduction for continuing to require masks when there is no government mandate and I was the only visitor. Pandemic theater must stop. This isn’t accomplishing anything.

Do you still sell the white cotton wedding ring design queen bedspread ? I went to LHS class of 56 and took my grandsons to visit the mills. One wants a bedspread he saw there when he was 12. Thank you

I will be traveling with 54 people Oct 14th at 11:00 AM and the tour will last 2hrs.Where can I take this many for lunch very close, they will be ready for lunch?
撰写日期:2016年9月26日
Check out the Athenian Corner, Olympia Rest., Cobblestones or the old court. The Worthen is good but it is more of a bar and 54 people might overwhelm it for lunch. All of these places are online, but like any place, contact them and they will accommodate you. All are within a short walk from the National Park visitors center on Market St.

What are the opening times mid October and how long is the average visit
撰写日期:2016年9月8日
My advise is to take the Free lowell national park visitors tour. The opening times in October depends upon the time of the tour and the average visit is less than an hour.
