We had a wonderful time coordinating with Katie from Beyond Boundaries for our adaptive whitewater rafting trip with RVA Paddlesports. As a director for a camp for children and teens with medical needs, we are always looking for creative and inclusive ways to get our community outside. Blazers, our oldest campers, take part in a Blazers' trip each summer and this was it! RVA Paddlesports did a wonderful job accommodating the trip for campers and counselors with spina bifida, hemophilia, sickle cell, diabetes, and other diagnoses. Our participants said this experience was something they never thought they could do because of their medical needs. Happy tears were shed and lifelong memories were made. Thank you RVA Paddlesports and Beyond Boundaries for the work you do!

I have had the pleasure of working with RVA Paddlesports for a couple of years now, providing exciting new experiences to our Men's Program at the McShin Foundation. They are very accommodating and make sure that each person enjoys themselves to the fullest! We anticipate the weather break each year because we know that RVA Paddlesports is around the corner!! I can't speak highly enough of RVA Paddlesports and the work that they do. If you haven't booked a trip with them yet, you're missing out!!!

I work for an organization called Beyond Boundaries that takes people with physical or cognitive disabilities, veterans, people in substance recovery, and underserved youth on outdoor adventures.
The summer of 2024, we took about 30 rafting trips and I have to say that RVA Paddlesports does an amazing job of putting safety first, but allowing our friends to explore, have fun, all while being included by the raft guides. The guides are wonderful and warm, kind and empowering, and I can't wait for the 2025 season already!

I caught the whitewater kayaking bug in another city and was pleased with the company I paddled with there, but RVA Paddle Sports is just on another level with their instructors and skill progression. I am in town several times a year and always try to work in a lesson before heading home and learn a lot no matter who is leading. I didn't take my first lesson until I was 60, but with RVA Paddle Sports, I've progressed to the point where I just bought my first whitewater kayak.

Decided to try a guided white water rafting trip and couldn’t have been happier with our guide Dakota and the experience of paddling through a downtown city. Dakota was patient and professional and we never felt afraid. He also to,d us interesting facts about the bridges. And architecture of Richmond. The rest of the staff was laid back, friendly and helpful.

Loved everything about the trip, company and guides. My wife and I have used other outfitters in Richmond in the past but RVA Paddlesports are our new favorites. Our guide John is what made the trip truly exceptional. Because the water was low, we got caught on rocks a little more often than usual, but John worked incredibly hard to free us each time. Furthermore, he was personable, knowledgeable, and it felt like we had another friend in the raft.
Thank you John (hope the spelling is correct) and thank you to everyone who made the experience memorable!

This was such a treat! We booked last minute - spontaneously - and they were fully able to accommodate us. They helped us find parking (we were not from the local area) and gave us some water shoes to wear (we had not planned to go so had nothing to change into). Quade was our guide. He was so fun to be with. The trip itself was amazing - so much beauty! Do it!!

We did the full raft trip and it was very enjoyable. The guides were experienced and fun. Our guide was Eric, he was great, knew a lot about the river and area, matched our vibe and made it seem easy to get us through fun and safe. There were some calm sections and some more exciting sections but nothing crazy so seemed like smaller kids would be fine. We stopped a few times to swim, Rick jump, have lunch and surf the raft at the bottom of a water fall. Would highly recommend!

Have been twice this month. One time on a very high water day and another today at 4 feet. Quade and Emily are both great guides ! Will be back for sure !

My boyfriend and I went white water rafting with our guide, Tuka (sorry if I misspelled this!), and had such a great time. Our guide was amazing. She shared so much local knowledge and river rafting knowledge. She was very kind and friendly and warmly greeted us the moment we stepped into the lot, definitely making us feel welcomed. The river was low due to lack of rain, so she had to do quite a bit of maneuvering to get us around the rocks. At one point, we got stuck and the raft lifted up and I was thrown off. Thankfully, due to Tuka’s excellent pre-trip training, I knew exactly what to do. Although I am considerably larger than her, she was somehow able to lift me out of the water and get me back into the raft safely without even a scratch. Very impressive! It was such a great trip, can’t say enough positive things about it. The water was at about 3.8 feet when we went. We’re going to book again once it’s back up around 5.5 feet. That seems to be the best time to go. Thanks for everything, Tuka!!!!!!

We are traveling to Richmond on 6/1/19. Is the water warm enough to do the lower river rafting? 2 adults plus 15 yr old and 11 yr old. Thanks for the help!

June conditions are usually ideal with water temps from 70-80 degrees. Should it be colder weather we provide splash tops and layers if it’s especially chilly.
