Being face to face with neolithic and paleolithic art up to 20,000 years old is breathtaking, a memorable experience. It is at the top of our vacation experiences. It is even good enough to make up for the terrible booking process. O/l one page on their site says go to the contact page to make a reservation. The contact page says not to use this form for reservations. No one answers the phone during most of the day. The trick is to call before 0900 local time (happens to be 3 am where I live). When I did reach someone then, she spoke sharply to me for trying to use the o/l forms.. Another caution is that the cave is a little slippery and of uncertain footing in some places so unsuitable for some people. These comments aside, I repeat the cave is a memorable experience.

Magica.un passionate guide made us return to the Paleolithic and with the only help of electronic torches made us visit an amazing cave with graffiti that give enormous emotions

This was an exceptional experience. The tour guide was wonderful. Lots of slippery steps and bats and the paintings are fascinating. Getting to the entrance is a steep climb up steps.

Such a fantastic experience! We have visited a number of caves over the years but this felt particularly special. Booking via phone is easy and the tour was conducted equally in Spanish and in English. Our charming tour guide was Tomas, who was so knowledgeable, passionate and entertaining. The cave itself is stunning. We highly recommend!

A unique place to visit, awesome history with cave paintings and a sense of an ancient culture. Incredibly atmospheric as there is no lighting apart from the lanterns you carry and the guide's powerful torch. Spectacular formations and water pools. But a word of warning, don't attempt this if you have mobility problems or are not particularly fit! The climb to the entrance from the car park alone is steep enough to defeat the faint hearted. Inside there are precipitous and very narrow pathways, often quite slippery, extremely steep going up and extremely steep going down. The visits are scheduled hourly but take around one and a half hours (there are two guides and you meet the following group). Very knowledgable guide (but all in Spanish). Make sure you book in advance as numbers are understandably limited and it's a long way to go to find you can't go in!

A cave worth visiting. The Guide explains everything beautifully. Almost an hour and a half to visit, and it becomes very enjoyable. Don't miss it, it's as beautiful as Nerja's or Aracena's.

This cave was a real surprise.
The excellent guide accompanied us for a journey of about an hour and a half alternating Spanish and fluent English. There were 12 of us and the groups are maximum of 25. It is not easy to contact them by phone and so we went directly to the site.
Authentic cave paintings, amazing sculptures of stalatites and stalagmites.
It's totally worth it.

Very well preserved, it impresses as gallery after gallery you go inside and thanks to the explanations of the guide who shows you, corners, formations that look like sculptures made by man and the spectacular paintings, a discovery worth visiting.

How do you make a reservation and buy tickets. The website is not currently set up to purchase tickets and it says to call. NO ONE ever answers the phone and I have tried at various times of day, evening. How likely are you able to just show up and get in?

I do not think you can make reservations. we called a lot but never got an answer on the phone number. we finally just went and bought the tickets there. they take credit cards but they can't always get the connection so cash is best

Hay que tener precaución, pero no es peligroso. La cueva está bien adaptada para la visita, con escalones y un sendero bien señalizado. Se va acompañado de un guía. En algunos puntos la roca resbala un poco. Es recomendable llevar calzado apropiado, nada de chanclas o similar.

Nel mese di Settembre conto di visitare con altre due persone Cueva de La Pileta. Cosa mi consigliate di fare per effettuare la visita senza dover spendere tempo inutilmente in attese lunghe e magari infruttuose?

If you type in Pileta cave tours on Google you will find the Pileta cave site heading the page and this gives opening times (open all year round and weekends) and advice on how to get there (by train then walk)
