Great if you like dogs running around and leaving their "marks" everywhere
2021年11月
This is a beautiful place with great trails and views, but for some reason the local population has decided to turn it into an informal dog park. We encountered many dogs running off leash, some large ones without an owner in sight. As the dogs are running freely they are also defecating freely, and we saw few owners with bags in hand (indicating they were not picking up after their animals.) For our "parting gift," my companion took home, as a gross souvenir, a bit wad of dog feces on his shoe. In another testament to lawlessness at this Unit, at the Indian Trail entrance people park on the shoulder of the single lane road (marked "No Parking") that leads to the parking lot, making it extremely difficult to enter and exit (cars can't pull over to pass each other and must back up). I wish the National Park Service would focus on getting the scofflaws in this park to follow the rules and make it a place that's pleasant for everyone to visit, not just them and their dogs.

beware of dogs off leash
2021年5月
This morning around 8AM, my 20 pound Jack Russell terrier (who was on a leash) and I were attacked by a gray pit bull (named Bella who was not on a leash) on the East Palisades Trail at the Chattahoochee River. I thought we were going to die when it happened - but we were not hurt. I had already picked up my dog and was trying to shelter her in my arms, when the pit bull knocked us to the ground. The owner was able to get her off before more damage was done. This is the reason it's against the law to have your dog off leash anywhere - on any trail - even in the water - within the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area.

Fun Hike With The Granddaughter
2020年7月 • 家庭
My daughter and I along with my five year old Granddaughter visited on Tuesday. It’s an easy hike down to the Palisades section of the Chattahoochee River. This is one of the most scenic views in metro Atlanta. The day we were there people were riding the rapids in Kayaks and canoes. Also saw a paddle boarder out on the river. The trail is natural terrain and is fairly well maintained. The trail winds through towering trees in the mostly hardwood forest as it descends to the river. You will cross several wooden bridges. The day we were there a tree had fallen and blocked the trail but it was easy to navigate around. We hiked about 4 miles round trip but you can walk even further if you have the time. Peaceful, relaxing environment. It was a fun day. Both dog and family friendly.
FYI-The actual road into the gravel parking area is one lane. There is a $5.00 day use fee that you pay on line.

Closed today?
2020年8月
Went to east palisades early this morning and traffic was being turned away. Does anyone know what’s going on? Is it closed from COVID?

Love this trail. Very versatile and dog friendly!

Nice hike through the woods and along the lake
2020年4月
The hiking trail that goes along the river for a good portion of the hike is probably the best option. Its not accessible by bike and is a little tricky in a couple of spots, but otherwise a pretty simple trail. This park is easily accessible to Atlanta residents and inside the perimeter.

Great hiking trail for family and kids. From the Riverview Road wntrance it is less than a mile down to the river with great scenery. We will walk this route many times in life

Well laid out with lots of trail choices. Parking is a bit limited but it is well worth the effort once here.

Can be challenging or easy; you choose.
2019年10月
This is an excelleint trail. Not long if you just take the outer path, but you can add on several inner paths for more distance. Much of it is along the river, and some areas have towering palisades. We chose to climb the palisades face at one point to connect to another trail and avoid backtracking. It was a real challenge, and much fun. Great overlooks and a bambo forest at one point along the river. Trails are not as well maintained as some other areas, so expect to get your feet muddy it there has been rain.

Bamboo forest in the middle of the city
2019年5月 • 夫妻情侣
I was surprised to see that this place had no many reviews here in Trip Advisor, went to ck it out this past weekend and loved it! The park is huge with lots of trails, the bamboo forest is not marked in any of the maps, we walked 4 miles to find it, but later discovered that if you go from the parking lot entrance it’s very close. You walkalong the Chatahochee river, so even in a hot day the breeze was splendid😊
