100% recommend for anyone interested in a “Flamenco retreat.” My package included four nights in Casa de Solea (above the studio), four days of private classes (8 hours total), an ayurvedic massage, dinner with Paula, and transportation from the Granada airport.
The accommodations were amazing. You have a full kitchen with pots, pans, plates… you can buy food from the local supermarket and cook for yourself. There are two bedrooms, wifi, a TV with Netflix abilities, a terrace… the home is a traditional Alpujarreñan home with wooden beams and everything. It’s several hundred years old.
The food in this area is so affordable and the portions are huge. Paula recommends El Teide in Bubion - I agree it was a great place to eat.
When I wasn’t taking classes, I spent my time walking around Bubion and between Bubion and the other towns nearby. I spent my first day doing the Ruta de las Fuentes in Bubion. It’s a great way to get familiar with the streets and is a fun scavenger hunt. Another day I spent walking to Capileira and exploring there (Paula’s dad has a leather store there!). Another to Pampaneira and back (this was a steeper hike!). You can take weaving workshops in Bubion and in Pampaneira, but you should plan this in advance (in Pampaneira they only do classes in the winter).
Paula and her mom Cristina treat you like family. They provide food recommendations, activity suggestions, and even invited me to their home. I truly feel like I connected with them on a personal level, which makes the experience all the more special.
To top it all off - all of what I described comes at a super reasonable price (for me, €660 + €70 for the car service). I’m sure price varies depending on what you choose to include.

What an amazing week we had at Flamenco la Fuente! My hubby and I booked this treat for ourselves because we both love flamenco and wanted to take some time to relax in a beautiful location whilst brushing up on dancing (me), and guitar (him).
I've been learning flamenco for a few years but wanted to challenge myself and focus on technique and posture. Likewise, my husband wanted to get into the nitty gritty of guitar.
We both came away thinking, wow!! We have learnt so much in just one week and had such a fabulous time with the most kind hearted and lovely teachers.
I had 2 hours of dancing every day, mostly one to one, but sometimes I joined a group too. Both experiences were valuable.
The group lessons were really fun and being more people, we could do things like dance in a 'Buleria circle'. I was a bit terrified at first as the last time I did this I had no idea what I was doing, but Paula explained exactly when to start and which beat to listen out for. She had a knack for de-complicating things and making things which were previously slightly scary and mysterious suddenly click into place.
Paula also had a knack for pushing me just to the point where I felt challenged, but not overwhelmed. She was so patient and answered a lot of questions I had on centering, weight transfer and flow. (She spoke excellent English by the way thanks to having worked in London for a few years).
I also had the privilege of dancing with Paula's mum, Cristina. Like Paula, she has a beautiful way of teaching that made me feel OK with the world and at ease.
I have returned to the UK with more confidence as a dancer and zillions of tools in my flamenco tool kit.
I would totally recommend this holiday for anyone looking for the complete package; dancing or guitar, relaxing in beautiful scenery, amazing food and wine.
I would also say not to be put off by getting here, yes it's a bit 'back of beyond', but it's easy to get here by bus from Malaga airport via Granada, you can do it in one day and it's cheap as chips on the bus and a very pleasant journey with tons of incredible scenery.

I stayed at Flamenco La Fuente for four days of classes with Paula and Christina this summer, and I wish I'd planned to stay for longer, but I can already tell that I'll be making trips to Bubión a regular part of my dance practice from now on--I know I won't feel that I have truly mastered something new until I've had a chance to go over it with Paula and Cristina!
I'm a very new flamenco dancer but have been dancing other styles for years, so I was delighted to learn from dancers who are not only so talented but also so dedicated to the art of teaching dance. Our lessons were personalized as we went, and adapted to not only my skill level but the techniques I felt less confident about, my goals, the gaps in my knowledge of flamenco, my previous dance experience, and my ability to follow the music. Paula and Cristina believe in helping you understand why the dance works the way that it does, so for the first time, I felt I truly understood things that I'd pretty much been faking my way through in previous flamenco classes, like the 12-count tempo, the way that weight works in turns, and exactly why my footwork wasn't getting any faster. Despite all this hard work, it was truly a vacation, filled with laughter, jokes, and cheerful making and learning from others, including strangers who came through to chat or dance!
I was fortunate to have class with both Paula and Cristina, which was a true privilege. I can't say enough good things about Paula's patience and ability to catch what's not working for you and explain it so that it does. She misses nothing--she was the first person to notice, in nearly a year of flamenco classes with different teachers, that I'd been dancing with the wrong shoes!--and she made sure I was confident in everything I did before I left, so that after months I still remember the moves well and built good habits (in class back home, I've been complimented by new teachers for the basics Paula made sure I worked on). Cristina has the kindest and most creative way to communicate issues of styling, and helps you to arrive in your own way at what types of flamenco gestures will feel most organic to you while coming from a place of authenticity. I still use her warm-ups and brazeo exercises before I start dancing, even to practice, and she knows just how to work with beginners like me who feel apprehensive at how to approach a dance with so much cultural weight and particularity.
About the location: this is a magical place to learn flamenco. These three neighboring towns--Bubión, Capileira, and Pampaneira--are all walking distance from one another and distinguished by their beautiful white architecture, mountain views, and floral color. You get to understand flamenco rhythms in a more intuitive way hearing them in all the restaurants from local musicians, in shows in the town center, and even in a festival parade that we were fortunate to see. These towns aren't crowded, but they do a gentle tourist trade, so they're well-connected to the bus routes and make it easy to access pharmacies, ATMs, grocery stores, bike rental, and transportation options.
Logistics were my biggest reservation in coming, but this turned out to be very simple, so if you're coming on your own, have little or no Spanish, or feel apprehensive without a car, don't worry. I arrived via flight to Granada and took a 2-hour bus to the school (I'd recommend this over renting a car--it's pleasant, inexpensive, and a great way to see the stunning landscape of the Alpujarras). Buses are frequent and can be booked online, and the bus stop is right down the road from the school. I stayed in the adorable house attached to the studio, which you can ask about renting and was a great solution, located in walking distance to everything and with facilities for cooking and washing clothes. Paula also went the extra mile to look up alternative bus routes and suggest other options to me. She made sure that I was well and shared her recommendations with me at all stages from the moment I expressed interest to the moment I arrived home in France.
For someone who's curious about flamenco, a new dancer, an experienced dancer interested in tightening up their basics, or a dancer who wants to develop a deeper understanding of the environment, music, and history of flamenco--and to anyone accompanying someone who is any of those things!--I'd recommend coming for a retreat here without a doubt. Counting down the days until I can go back!

If you like the South of Spain and are interested in practicing Flamenco, then you will enjoy booking a course at Flamenco La Fuente. Cristina Serrano is a skilled dancer and equally experienced and enthusiastic teacher and will happily tell you all you want to know about the structure of various dances, the rhythm, clapping and of course technique. It is fun learning so many new steps and get more awareness concerning one's body posture and appearance. In the end of the lesson one's heart and head are full of the lovely music and one is eagerly waiting for the next day. Many thanks!!

As a dance educator I attended escuela de flamenco la fuente as a workshop to learn the basics of flamenco. By the end of the week I had learned Palmas (rythmical clapping in two styles) along with footwork , intricacies of hands/arms, ending the week with a simple but challenging choreography in flamenco tangos. It was an experience that has influenced me to take my learning further in flamenco.
Cristina and her family were most accommodating and helpful from sending my first email of enquiry up until my arrival, where i was met by Cristina who escorted me to my hotel.
Her teaching was clear and precise with instruction making it easy to follow. Cristina is very patient and will work at a standard to your suit your ability, not once did I feel intimidated by her professionalism.
I highly recommend her workshop for anyone who is interested to learn or just have a basic understanding of flamenco to appreciate a music or flamenco performance. There is nothing more fun than learning a new dance style at leisure or for pleasure and this is a perfect way to understand and learn a little of Spanish culture and passion.
About capileira..... spectacular and filled with warmth is the topography (just like it's wine ❤❤❤❤). I have certainly been inspired to continue my learning.

Fine and fun five day flamenco course for absolute beginners. Christina’s teaching is based on joy and love of flamenco. And she is very passionate, motivating and patient. She will tell you that se does not speak or teach in English. But do not let that put you off ;-). Her English works perfect with her flamenco teaching. We had a wonderful week with steps and clapping, lovely rhythms and fun. Thank you :-)

We went to an evening demonstration and explanation of flamenco. As a result, I now understand flamenco more and can appreciate it better. The dancer and musician both spoke about the history of flamenco. I hadn’t realized that it’s a conversation between the dancer and musician and singer and thus somewhat improvisational. We were moved by the beauty and intensity of the performance. This is a small space and so we recommend coming early to get good seats.

My husband and I had a course over three days in flamenco rhythms at Christina's flamenco school in the centre of Capileira village, high in the mountains of Andalucia. We were really impressed by our tutors Paula and Miguelo, who took us through a well-planned progression of different flamenco rhythms, accompanied by passionate and energetic flamenco guitar and dance. They are friendly, warm and talented people who inspired and took us through the basics of the 'Compas' rhythms of flamenco, and how to clap an accompaniment (Palmas) to Tangos, Alegrias, Soleas and Bulerias.
Everything was taught in a relaxed, fun and accessible way and Paula and Miguel's English is very good (if like us your Spanish is rusty!)
Christina's planning and communication beforehand was very good and contributed to this being one of the highlights of our holiday - I can't recommend Flamenco La Fuente enough!

My girl-friend and I made a 5 days beginners course with Cristina and Paula. We both had no experience and were absolute beginners. The lessons were conducted in a wonderful manner and the final choreography we learned till the end was so much fun, with the result that we even performed it on our journey back clapping and dancing.
The school is located in a stunning environment. These impressions will certainly accompany us for a long time.
To sum up, we can say that we were treated very warmly and we now already miss the time.
