Lovely, quiet, clear, peaceful.
2019年9月
This was a last minute stop, but I'm really glad we did. It was quiet and lovely. Take a stone on your pilgrimage around the lake to leave at the site of Thoreau's cabin. Also, if I went back I might try to swim across it, as I saw several people doing on this coolish fall afternoon. The water is so clear and beautiful. Signs posted all around that swimming is at your own risk. But I think there's something spiritual about swimming across the pond.

A Quiet Thoughtful Walk Along Walden Pond
2019年3月 • 夫妻情侣
My wife and I visited Walden Pond on my birthday. As part of the entire experience of the Walden Pond Preserve, the walk along the pond to the original foundation of Thoreau's cabin is a very reflective and contemplative one, especially if one has read Walden Pond or seen the Museum exhibits. Wonderful!

Love this place!

This is truly worth the short walk to get here. It has been preserved in a beautiful way. One could just imagine him living here and what his life might have been like! Thank you for making this possible.

Do the Amble

The Amble is cute but don't neglect the rest of the cemetery. It's a lovely experience. I have seen a lot of people visit just for the "big" draw -- the authors, but the entire cemetery is sooo lovely!

A thought-provoking experience
2018年7月
We returned to Thoreau's hut this week and it was a real treat. First, the walk to where his cabin stood was long, but enjoyable. Going back and experiencing the solitude he had amid the beauty of Waldon Pond forces us to put away our electronics and just enjoy nature and its importance to us. If you are in the area, this is a must-experience. If you are an early American history buff, this is a required experience. Although most people go to the pond to swim or sun bathe, hiking to the location of his cabin should be the primary reason to go.

Beautiful Area

The entire area is just gorgeous. Walden Pond is so clean and beautiful. I really enjoyed walking along the water and taking in the fall foliage. This is a place I will definitely come back to.

Take the Walk through the woods
2016年9月 • 夫妻情侣
This is an easy walk which takes you to the site of Thoreau's cabin and continues on around the entire pond if you are so inclined to take a walk in the woods. There is a ridge trail and a trail that follows the pond perimeter.

Thoreau's Paradise
2015年11月
Walden Pond is a serene scenic area where Ralph Waldo Emerson reflected in thought and Henry David Thoreau lived in a small cabin for a little over two years taking copious notes on his interactions with nature and the locals who visited him on a regular basis. For Thoreau it was an experiment with nature and we are the beneficiary of his work "Walden". The park service has located the actual site (there is a stone marker) where the cabin was built in the 1800's and have built a replica near the entrance for all to explore. The pond has a path around the circumference that you can walk and enjoy just like Henry and Ralph did in their day. If you want maximum intellectual and emotional impact read "Walden" before or just after the visit. And for the bigger picture read Ralph's "Nature".

A Wonderful Walk!!!
2016年5月 • 家庭
Even though we are in our mid-60s, my wife and I love to walk, especially when the trail has as much history as this one, which supposedly follows the approximately 1 ¾-mile path that Thoreau and Emerson would have traveled from one’s home to the other.

Today, some of the path is intruded upon by modern Concord, but much of the path offers enough secluded beauty to give the hiker a good sense of what these two great men would have experienced on their walks.

After visiting the Alcott House, Wayside and the Concord Museum. We walked back toward town just past the Emerson House, where there is a wooden arrow in an open field indicating the start of the trail. From that point, it is well-marked, but, even so, I suggest first getting a trail map at the Concord Visitors Center. We found it to be very useful along with other maps they are very willing to provide.

There are a number of attractive locations for photo ops along the trail, but, by far, our favorite spot was Fairyland Pond. The other end of the trail is, of course, Walden Pond at a point just a few feet from the location of Thoreau’s home site. After circumnavigating the pond by trail, we returned to Concord via Walden Street, giving us a total walk of about 5 miles in a couple of hours.
