This was our second visit to Surelocked In and even though we didn’t escape we had a great time. Staff is super and the rooms are very cool. Highly recommend!

We had a fantastic time at the archeological dig! Surelocked In always provides a fun time so it's our go to for escape rooms. Stephanie was super helpful scheduling our event and kicked off our adventure off with a rousing start.

Highly recommend

We did the Great Santascape. The harder version. It was really good. We had 6 adults and we finished with only 3 minutes to spare. We have done many escape rooms and always have finished them. This was one of the better ones.

We went to the Santascape escape room. There were 6 of us-myself and my husband, 2 adult sons and our 2 grandchildren (age 14 & 12). We had a blast! We used all 3 hints and still didn't beat it. We had fun though.

We had a great time doing the Wild West fun clues and when given hints they were just enough to get you unstuck without feeling like the whole game was ruined. Our game master Anders was amazing and I live how everyone is in character. Highly recommend

Had a great time taking our grandson for his first escape room! Anderson was amazing and gave us a few hints when needed and helped make this a fun experience! Room was challenging and fun!

We did 2 rooms (Wild West and Santa). Both were engaging and challenging. We really liked the variety of puzzles so it didn't feel like you were doing the same thing over and over. The second room (Santa) was harder, which may have been because we were mentally winding down, but we had an equally great time in both. Can't wait to come back and try another room here!

Far more of a challenge than expected. We had four top-notch puzzlers in our team, and we were nearly stymied by the Santascape. Two rooms in the same day was taxing but definitely survivable. Warning: DO NOT ATTEMPT SOLO. These are not linear challenges, and some puzzles aren't designed to be solveable by a single person.

Our experience was not good from the start. We knew we might have to stand outside a few minutes before we were let it due to how busy you were. We were told that on the phone prior to arriving. Once inside the girl seemed to be rushed when telling us the rules. The way she was talking so fast yet in a very authoritative manner it felt like she had no personality and didn't want to be there. Telling us if she could have our attention here when we were already looking at her. Another couple came to the door and asked if they could book a time and instead of having them wait inside until she finished with us she just told them they would have to book online. Not good customer service. She then came back to behind the counter to finish with us and started all over again with the same line "If I could have your attention here." Again we were already looking at her. She went through the entire list of rules from the beginning instead of from where she left off. You could tell either she memorized the script or was reading it from her side of the glass. Either way not very personable. Once upstairs we had another ten minute wait. She came back and said it was because the dinosaurs made a terrible mess and that the intern lost the eggs.

While in the room without us asking for a clue she came in and told me to stop yanking on the locks and to stop trying random combinations. I told her I wasn't yanking I was holding it in one hand and pulling with the other. We also told her we had three of the four numbers and I was just trying every number for the last digit and yes I did that for every four digit lock in the first room. I am 54 years old and have used many combination locks in my life so I know how to use them and that just yanking on them doesn't work. That interaction got us frustrated and changed our attitude.

We ultimately got very close to escaping and once our time expired she came back in. We insisted on finishing the task we were on (getting the egg through the maze with the magnet) then using the key to open the last box in the other room. Those two tasks took maybe three or four minutes. Then we had all the eggs except the one you get with the spoons. At that time we felt we found them all. So we feel if our game had not been interrupted with her rudeness we probably would have escaped.
Out of all the escape rooms we have done this was by far the worst experience. We don't always escape but we have never have experienced a poor demeanor from the host.

Hi Art, Thank you for taking the time to write this review – we are sorry that you all lost your room and were devoured by dinosaurs! There are some discrepancies between what you’ve described in your review and what happened onsite when your party of two escape artists arrived on the 4th of July: -Given the holiday rush, your team of 2 did have to ring our doorbell to alert the Game Masters that you had arrived. 90 seconds later (the time it takes for a staff member to travel from our Command Center to the front door) your group was welcomed inside. -When other groups or walk-ins arrive, our Game Master prioritizes checking in the booked group. Inviting walk-ins to browse our availability and book online, especially during holidays, is the most efficient way to assist all parties and get booked groups like yours into their games as swiftly as possible. -Our Game Masters are costumed characters. When a reset takes a little longer than anticipated, we playfully provide the line about "dinosaurs & interns" as the start of the immersive story about your game. -We do not compromise on safety and make sure that every group that checks in both hears and understands the entire mandatory safety briefing. If we must repeat ourselves or reiterate a rule to a group, we will do so to make sure your party is set up for success. In particular, your review has multiple discrepancies with what the footage of your game showed: -Specifically in the room that you booked, our policy is to offer a free hint if a group is unable to solve the first puzzle within 10 minutes. When 20 minutes had elapsed and your party still hadn’t cracked the game’s first code, we came in to offer you a free hint (if desired) to get you all back on track. -While we do not have a rule against “handjamming” (trying every possible combination on a combination lock), it is an inefficient way to open a lock and wears out the mechanisms. We kindly offered to assist you with the lock that was flummoxing your party, but were rebuffed. -In a game where the party must recover 6 hidden eggs, you lost the game with only 4 eggs discovered. Still, we gave your group extra time to finish the room. When, after even the extra time expired, you had still not found the final egg, we had to end your game to get reset for the next showing of the room. While we’re sure you all are proud escape experts, it is never fun when a winning streak is broken. While we understand the frustration that comes with a close loss, we do not appreciate directing that frustration at a Game Master who went out of her way to help your team of 2 as much as time allows. We offered help and extra time as best we could, but ultimately success or failure in a room is up to the group and the group alone. We wish you well in your next escape room, wherever it may be! If I could give Zero stars, I would. We visited Surelocked In on Father’s Day to do our first escape room, the Dinosolvus. As it was described as being designed “especially for kids” I thought it would be appropriate for my 6 and 8 year old to do with us as a fun family activity. Everyone was super pleasant and we were excited to get going- until we met our game master.

It was clear from our first interaction that she was not very patient with children (or frankly good with people in general) and extremely irritable and at times downright condescending. Each subsequent interaction became more and more uncomfortable. I can’t even count the number of times she fussed at my children for innocuous things. At one point when we entered the second portion of the room, my children were looking for clues and my son removed a portion of a plant (that was removeable and easily replaced into a hole), I saw the no touching sticker (which A LOT of the items in the
child friendly room had- how can you call something child friendly when half of the items in the room can’t be touched?) and told him to stop, but even after he had walked away from them she came in to issue another warning, which was unnecessary. My daughter, who is six, slipped off her flip flops at one point and was sternly told to put them back on by the game master. All three of the adults in attendance felt the same way about how we were being treated. Several times when she was in the room, helping us with clues we were sternly told not to touch things or put things down. (And not the things that had no touching stickers) She seemed simply exasperated.

The room was challenging, but I have no real problem with that. The game master absolutely ruined this experience for us. The demeanor of the game master assigned to us on Father’s Day is not the demeanor of someone who should ever be working with children. I could tell that a couple times she was attempting to try to be patient, but she just did not seem to be able to get there.

We spent over $174 for our family of 5 to be made to feel like we were not at all welcome to be there. It was not an enjoyable experience- at all. Based on this I would not recommend Surelocked In to anyone inquiring about doing an escape room, particularly with children.

When I reached out directly to Surelocked In directly, they defended the behavior of their employee. They said “…we have found that our Game Master acted according to company policy. Enforcing rules is never fun, but it must be done to ensure both the safety of our players and the protection of our props and materials.” Let me be clear- I have NO problem with enforcing rules. Here’s what I DO have a problem with- advertising something as “especially for children” when it is clearly NOT set up for children, and being spoken to in a condescending tone by someone who is simply not good with people or children.

I am a pretty easy person to please and not one or go out of my way to complain. My husband often says I’m too nice when I don’t want to leave negative reviews for places after bad experiences. Most of the time, when an experience is not quite what I hoped, I shrug my shoulders and move on. This experience was beyond the pale and ruined my husbands Father’s Day and our time together as a family. If I were a business owner, I would want to know if I had an employee making such an absolutely horrible impression on paying customers, but not only do they seem OK with it, they defended it.

Hi Leigh, Thank you for taking the time to write this and bring it to my attention. I am sorry that the experience was not to your liking - we strive to give every group a 5-star experience and clearly that was not the case with your family. As we said when you first threatened us with a negative review: we love welcoming young Escape Artists to play our games - their excitement and energy is what makes them great players! It is the duty of the Game Master to ensure that this same excitement and energy does not become destructive or dangerous, even if that means coming into the room to gently (but firmly) guide young players away from unwanted or unsafe behaviors. While we saw no malicious intent in anything your players were doing, we did observe multiple instances that required immediate Game Master intervention to protect both people and props, including: Young players throwing props at each other Young players ripping decorative props off the walls Young players burying props in the sand (the sand destroys our locks, so we must intervene as fast as possible) Young players running through the rooms without their shoes on Players ignoring the rules agreed to in the mandatory safety briefing Especially in instances when the parents of young players are not stepping in to correct poor behavior, it falls on us as Game Masters to enter the game as often as necessary to protect players and props. The game becomes harder (if not impossible) to win when young players aren't actually playing the game, but are instead causing mischief. We will use your email as an opportunity to grow and learn as a team and to underscore the continued importance of vigilant Game Mastery. Thank you!
