This cinema sadly has been closed for a while and torn down, then made into a car dealership. What a terribly sad end to a wonderful Frederick staple.

If there is a first run movie that I really, really want to see (other than waiting for it on demand) I'll visit here but, as others have said, it is not comfortable. Once, years ago, hubby and I visited there on a weekend and as soon as we arrived, the skies opened up and a huge, heavy rain storm occurred. I had no umbrella or rain coat and had to park the car and try to make it inside without getting drenched...no such luck. I thought that we could at leas stand inside the small open area until we got our tickets but the door was locked tight. We could see the lights on and people behind the counter, ignoring us. Someone standing outside tapped on the door several times, and one of the employees finally looked up and shouted through the door, "What do you want?" Some teen ager...what did he think that we wanted that day? To buy a car or perhaps some furniture? We had to run back out to the car, drenched again, to wait for them to be good and ready to open the door for sales. I spent the whole time in the tiny theatre trying to dry out and not catch cold. This place might be fun for people with small kids, but it's also small, dirty, and uses seats from the 1960's... not to mention the rudeness factor.

Well worn and without luster, this theater brings you a show at a huge discount over the major movie houses. Sometimes you get lucky, as we did last weekend, and they are showing real-time new releases. Otherwise, you get a theater experience for "on demand" pricing. Sure, it has got its limitations, but we enjoy what they have to offer, for the price they charge.

This movie theater is well worn. But, hey, for less than $5 what can you ask for? All movies come here. Birthday parties are fun to have here. You must have cash! Only thing on the downside is I wish bathrooms were nicer.

This is an old theater with pretty uncomfortable seats. For what it is, I would have expected tickets to be cheaper than they are. On the night we went, it was $4.75. I realize that's still a fraction of what the national chains charge, but I would have expected more in the $2-$3 range.

Movies come here after they leave the main theaters. Depending on time tickets are anywhere between $3-$4.75. Kids movies play in mornings and afternoon. PG-13 & up play later. Food is movie theater prices. They have a room you can rent for parties that is pretty cheap.

This is a little movie theater, locally owned and family operated, that shows current movies within a few weeks of release. They have great prices on movie tickets. Saturday and Sunday mornings are only $2.75; Tuesdays are only $3.00; and, the rest of the time tickets are $4.50. Popcorn and drinks are about the same price as regular movie theaters. This really is a gem!

Holiday Cinema is a gem that we are fortunate to still have here in Frederick. With big name, glitzy, pleather recliner modern theaters now vying for the movie goers last dollar, family-owned Holiday Cinema brings comfortable, very reasonably priced movie entertainment to the whole family. They locally crowd sourced new projectors and avoided a government and industry move that likely shuttered many family theaters. Since ticket prices are reasonable, we always buy the family concessions, which are also reasonably priced. I go there more than anywhere else to give the family a night out that allows us to be together. Enjoy a flick today. J

What are you going to be spending your extra $8.50 on that you saved by seeing a movie here? It won't go far these days but its better than nothing.
If you didn't get a chance to see that movie you wanted to at Regal Westview, there's a chance it might eventually turn up here at Holiday Cinemas. That's exactly what happened when a friend and I decided to see the Poltergeist remake here in June. It costs $4.50/person for a movie ticket and they only accept cash. I got a bottle of water and a box of candy from the concession stand for about $6. The theater rooms were bigger and sound better than I expected them to be. Small and clean restrooms are also provided in the building. As long as you don't have some burning desire to see a movie as soon as its released or watch it in IMAX or 3D format, seeing it here for less than $5 sure makes a lot of sense.

This movie theater has movies a little later than the big biz. However, that makes it more economical! It has many popular movies once gone form the big movie houses.
Also, there are times for kids movies at even a more reduced rate! An older building sure but it works!!!
