Something for everyone is available at this visitor center. The county is full of opportunities-recreation, agriculture, history, arts, foodies and imbibers! Each gallery has a general explanation along with current brochures. There is also a general film to watch, clean bathrooms and vouchered garage parking. It’s across the street from the transportation hub and a great way to get acclimated to the offerings.

Located in an attractive brick (c.1899) restored warehouse, the Frederick Visitors center was excellent in many areas. Besides the beautiful property, the staff was wonderful, informative and there were brochures, maps, exhibits, photos and magazines, all you needed to help you thoroughly enjoy this historic city. There is 45 minute free parking at the center though they only have 6 spaces, and 3 hour validation at parking garages. The only negative was the 6 minute film, that was nice but mostly fluff that was surprising considering the historic nature of Frederick. They need a 20 minute film that begins with the founding of Frederick in 1745 along with historic events and discussing the growth of Frederick over the decades. How the Revolutionary War and the Civil War helped shaped the city. How and what industries impacted it as well as Carroll's Creeks influence on its growth etc.

Conveniently located, 45 minutes of free parking, will validate parking garage tickets. Staff was friendly and very knowledgable. Displays are wonderful and so informative. I did a ton of online research prior to our visit and I still got more information from the Visitor's Center that was more helpful. Will definitely be returning to Frederick for future visits, so much more to do and see than we could accomplish on our long weekend visit.

The Visitor Center staff were really helpful and friendly, and the information inside was comprehensive and well laid out. We did the Walking Tour of Frederick from beginning to end.
The only slight disappointment was the introductory film - it looks lovely and glossy but is more like a generalised 6 minute travel ad than anything informative. It was empty and offered no real information at all.
I understand there had previously been a 14 minute film which was considered dated, but it’s hard to imagine the new film is an upgrade. I learned precisely nothing about the place.
Otherwise though the Center is great. And it’s a beautiful town.

We stopped at the end of our day in Frederick and were very impressed with the 15 min highlight movie, the displays and myriad of brochures and info for the next visit.

We were familiar with Frederick but coming here gave us a better appreciation of the town and the surrounding area. The center had historic displays and also featured displays of area sites and attractions for people to visit. There were a ton of visitor flyers, pamphlets and guides to pick up at no cost. They Center also had a few items for sale (t-shirts, postcards, mugs, books). I had a special interest in antiques, so a staff person gave me a list of all antique shops that were in Frederick and those located close by.

Do stop there when you get to town. Informative and advised where we could park for 3 hours free with validating our parking ticket. Thank you

Terrific visitors center with great people and tons of information, almost like a small museum. Amazing amount of literature about every interest imaginable. Absolutely the best way to start your visit to Frederick and western Maryland.

The Visitor Center is a gem of information with exhibits and displays of area historic importance. We learned a lot and decided to go to places in addition to doing the self-guided downtown Frederick walking tour. They will direct you to the parking garage a block away on East All Saints Street. Pick up literature, maps, and have your 3-hour parking validated at the Visitor Center.

Oh my did we discover a gold mine!! When visiting Frederick for the first time (or just getting re-acquainted), I definitely recommend going here first because there is a wealth of information! There is a short show which outlines the history/memorable sites, a ton of handouts sorted by categories of your choosing, and extremely helpful volunteers.
