I read a lot of negative reviews, which very nearly put us off visiting, I’m glad to say that we still gave it a chance. I feel the negative reviews on Trip Advisor are very unfair. Amazona isn’t Chester Zoo or Whipsnade, but it’s not trying to be. It’s a Zoo in a smallish seaside town. Not many other places can claim to have a Zoo. It’s got a great selection of animals, loads of kids activities and play areas. The reviews suggest the enclosures are small and rundown, not the case !! They are tidy, well equipped with branches, ropes and toys etc I’m no expert, but all the animals appeared happy and healthy. The Zoo is tidy, litter free, lots of bins. The staff that we met were all helpful and great with the kids. Prices I feel are very reasonable, not many other places will let you take a 3 year old in for free. Don’t let the negative reviews put you off, support a place like this so that it can support its animals. Great day out with young kids, nice soft play indoors. Can’t comment on the food from the Cafe as we took a picnic, but plenty of benches and tables around to self cater.

What a great little zoo. Good selection of animals for adults and the kids. Jaguar worth a visit alone!!!!. Tidy and well kept animals. Cafe cheap and tidy!! Selection of food including nice chips !!!!!. Well done on keeping these lovely animals in a nice environment. Price commensurate for venue. Will be going back in a few years !!!!. Give it a go !. If you don't the animals will go !!!!!

Such a lovely little zoo! Cheap entry prices and lots of animals to see. It’s really nice to see a zoo which is focused on a particular part of the world as well. Lots of information about South America and its wildlife. Nice little cafe and gift shop as well. Highly recommend visiting!

Lovely little zoo and animals which my daughter loved, especially the wild cats. Soft play area and inflatable pillow outdoors.

We left feeling very sad for the animals. The enclosures are way too small for all! The beautiful Jaguar was pacing up and down in a small area. We decided to have lunch in the Cafe but they had run out of Jacket potatoes, we were surprised as it was half term so one would think it would be catered for having more supplies.Jumping pillows were not open (it wasn't raining). Staff in the entrance kiosk and grounds very pleasant and helpful. Large car park.

I always find Zoos dispiriting places but this was well laid out.
Nothing can replace these animals living in their own countries and natural habitats but this Zoo has done an ok job.
Not enough room for the big cats and the monkeys looked sad and lonely.
My visit was spoiled by a lad with a very noisy leaf blower using it on all the paths,much too noisy for captive animals not to be frightened.
I have no knowledge of where the animals came from originally,as so many Zoos have had to close down,especially when Covid hit visitor numbers,Zoos still had to pay out for food,bedding and vets fees.
The little cafe was great,a lovely lady did me a massive baked potato,cheese etc and great cup of tea,and kept the place spotless.
This Zoo is good if you wish to educate your children on the animals that live here and how they can read up about conservation and apply it.
Mankind is responsible for Zoos being here and we need to stop destroying their natural habitat- in the ideal world.

A nice small zoo, easy to get around if you have mobility issues. Would recommend it. Cafe is also reasonably priced, fairly good choice

The zoo that time forgot. Sadly this place looked in need of some serious cash flow. My heart hurt to see some of these enclosures. Lovely little monkeys in not great cages next to stagnant ponds with flamingos, the smell was offensive to us so I can’t imagine how the animals with a super sensitive sense of smell felt about it. I know it’s a catch 22 but it’s over priced for what it currently is and has. You can sit in a dingy cafe over a stagnant pond and get a greasy pastry for lunch or bring your own and eat next to the one of the lovely dying plants in the hot house where a lovely free flowing stagnant waterfall will fill you with joy! Or you can go and watch the big cats pace up and down in there way too small enclosures, deeply upsetting. I was cross that we had added to these poor animals suffering, had I known what it was going to be like, we would not have gone, we felt guilty. Please, please please please either secure funding to improve things and re home some of the larger animals or shut down.

We were sceptical as we've been to small zoos before and been disappointed and or enraged. However this one is amazing. Beautiful tranquil setting and friendly helpful staff. Access to the animals is great. To be able to get 6 inches away from a Jaguar eating a dead rabbit behind the clean glass was the highlight. We were there early and saw them all, not hiding as work other zoos.
They were all very well cared for and in tip top condition, shiny costs etc. None of them stressed and isolated.
The cafe was well run with cold and hot food and the staff were very efficient. Prices were like from another era.....£3.50 for a baked potato, £1 , yes, £1 for a coffee, £4 large soup etc
Couldn't fault the whole 3 hours we spent there

I was a bit shocked at the amount of room the animals had, all seemed the same from the Puma to the tortoise. A couple of the cats seemed to be pacing up and down which is a sign of anxiety in all animals. I’m afraid I didn’t like it at all.

Hi there,
No, unfortunately there isn’t anything for vegans (not even soya milk) but if you’re willing to risk it, there are chips. They’re not bad.
You might be better taking a picnic as there are some nice places to sit and relax including picnic benches.

Hi - there was a rain shower when we were there. Most is open, but you can stay indoors for some parts, like the more tropical animals. There is a yurt play/education space and of course the indoor soft play. The cafe has plenty of space and you can get a good priced cuppa (although it is mostly from a machine as I recall.

There are a few entry prices depending on if you are going on your own or with a family. The website has the details but I think it's £11.50 for an adult £8.50 per child or £35 for a family of four. Carers go free.
