Don't miss this small but interesting spot while visiting the beautiful antebellum homes. Great place for a walk with the 1 mile nature trail and it's free!

The Center is located south of downtown Natchez. The Visitor Center is very good with friendly staff and some excellent exhibits and information about the history and culture of the Natchez Indians. There is also a gift shop with Native American crafts.

Exposition très intéressante à l'intérieur.

There are three grassy hills in the middle of a residential neighborhood. They have a short 10 minute movie telling the story of the Natchez Indians and a few artifacts ( very few and mostly broken pottery and a little basketry) . The docent was very informed and knowledgeable about Natchez . but it would be an easy place to skip.

This is such a tranquil spot. Surrounded by trees, full of birdsong, this was a harmonious start to our day. We enjoyed the video which was just right at 7 minutes and were graciously greeted by the lovely team. The site itself is so quiet you can take time to reflect on how time changes and what once was happening at this site. So close to downtown and we are so glad we found it

There are not a lot of places in the United States you can visit where you know an Indian nation had a strong presence. You can here. The Grand Village of the Natchez was where the nation lived 3-6 centuries ago and there are French written accounts of what that habitation looked like. Today a visit here is underwhelming, there are a few grass mounds that stand as evident of the Natchez presence. I was glad to visit because of the historical significance, but wishes there was more to see. There is a small museum on site, so a visit will take you about an hour here.

Easy to get to, great signage, well kept grounds, easy walking, fair amount of benches. Short film and free maps in the gift shop. It was very interesting

I have spent the past month traveling along the Mississippi River and visiting Indian Mound sites. Two things in particular set this site apart. First, it was visited by Europeans while it was still active, and they reported what they saw, so we have additional information about how the site was used beyond what archaeologists can find. (These reports have been helpful in interpreting other Mississippian sites). Second, the gift shop here has by far the most extensive collection of books on both historic and prehistoric Native Americans of any of the sites I have visited (including big ones like Cahokia and Poverty Point). There was no admission charge and the woman behind the desk was very friendly.

There is not much here other than the mounds but there is a film describing the history of the Natchez peoples and their interaction with the Europeans. There are helpful displays at each of the important areas of the grounds.

There is a small museum and a very nice park to enjoy. It was too hot for us to spend a day in the end of July. but it is historic and is very pleasant
