One Huge ancient Kauri tree is next to the carpark & there is a large grassy area for picnics. The bush walk is a 20minute gentle circular boardwalk. It's easy for all ages & not too long for the very young or elderly.
The settler museum has old tools & interesting memorabilia too. Definitely worth this quick rest-stop.

This was an absolutely brilliant chance to experience a walk through the native trees.
The access to the area is easy and the walk has been well thought out to enhance the visit. The streams and wet areas are covered with ferns of many varieties.
Free to enter and a great place to walk.
A big thank you to all the volunteers who keep the grove in such good condition.

This is a wonderful place. A MUST VISIT kind of place. We spent two hours in the Museum and an hour walking along the boardwalk in the Kauri forest. Thank God it's been saved. Why can't I send a photo Trip Advisor?

This is an amazing Bush walk through kauri trees, young & old as well as other bush containing nikau palms, ponga ferns and more. Pathway is beautifully maintained & a very easy walk for 2 70yr olds. It was well sign-posted and the trees etc were well labelled.
The Warkworth Museum, also there is a work of local love. It is great!

Great place to visit for a forest walk through mature NZ native trees(free entry). There is also a small museum($7 per adult) plus a shop which has beautiful handmade wooden toys & cheeseboards made with NZ timbers at very reasonable prices. Well worth the visit.

Have driven past the sign on the main road many times over the years and wondered what was there. Finally turned off to check it out. Awesome! Stunning large Kauri, walkway through the Bush lovely although not accessible to those who have mobility issues. The museum was interesting, worth a look. Good parking.

My wife and I were on an organized tour of New Zealand. We stopped here on our way back to Auckland. The walkway has several loops and one viewing platform. It takes about 20-25 minutes to do the entire walkway. You can pick up a guide about the plants you may see. There were a few kauri trees, but the forest itself was really the highlight of the walk. For really impressive kauri trees, I recommend going to Puketi Kauri forest near the Bay of Islands.

Unfortunately we weren't given long enough to fully look this place over. The 800 year old Kauri tree was impressive. Less so the outbuildings & associated history attached.
All rather tired & not terribly well kept. The shop was quite bereft of true memorabilia too. Altogether not impressed.

Here is one of the best preserved stands of New Zealand Bush. The incredible walkway makes for an easy look at what the country was in the past and the museum makes the history of the area come to life. Great place to visit and the nearby town of Warkworth is a gem.

We broke a long journey north at the Kauri Park which, although low key, is both amazing and refreshing. The huge, ancient tree adjacent to the car park is impressive enough but it’s then possible to enjoy a stroll through the woodland on board walks. The trees have an impressive history, having been used by the Maoris, by settlers, and by ship builders. Sadly, Kauri tree die-back is an ongoing problem so it’s very important to keep off the tree roots and to ensure that shoes have been disinfected before using the board walk. There is also a shop, museum (with some outdoor exhibits) and toilets. Donations are welcomed.
