Apparently non-residents are not good enough :(

Can’t review the actual park because only residents are allowed in. Seems bizarre for a place that obviously courts tourism, but we took the train all the way from Manhattan only to be turned away. The residents-only policy really kind of ruined a whole trip that my girlfriend and I planned. I would have certainly not have spent the time, money, and effort to get there had I known it would be so unwelcoming, elitist, and downright unfriendly. I assure you, I will never visit Oyster Bay again.

Residents Only Park
2021年6月 • 好友
We were met at the gate and told we could not enter the park because we were not residents of Oyster Bay... we were pretty disappointed as there was no warning to this rule and we would have chosen another, more welcoming, town to visit had we known.

Waterfront

The Teddy Roosevelt Park is a waterfront park with walking trails and a playground. It’s a beautiful spot to take a walk and enjoy a sunny day.

My son and friends visited this historic location and we were all thrilled. The location is rich in history from the original building he and his family lived in to the almost all original furnishings and artifacts it houses. The tour is a guided one and lasts for approximately one hour. The wealth of information our guide passed on to us was enlightening and very interesting. Climbing up and down staircases is involved in the three story home, something to consider when booking the tour. There are no restroom facilities in the actual home itself but they are located nearby next to the check in building. Parking is free on the grounds and tickets can be purchased online or at the facility at the check in building. This place is a must for history buffs!

We checked out the memorial (pretty quickly) and wandered to the bay and stared at the boats and water. It was lovely. Kids can play in the park. There’s grass and fields.

Teddy Roosevelt's Life and Times
2019年9月
The museum chronicles TR's life and career. The house tour shows how the Roosevelts lived, and through the many items on display gives a sense of TR's priorities. His accumulated trophies, both hunting and political, provides further insight. The house tour does involve two flights of stairs.

Enjoyed the view and the walk

Terrific place to walk, relax, or get some sun on the beach. You can even get a little history of the former President of the USA.
In addition to all this there is also a playground, snack bar and a basketball court.

Great experience

I recently went with my 2nd grade daughter and her class. I was blown away by the history. Everything was dated to period and the tour guide was very informative. It is definitely a place that every patriot should visit!

The museum is terrific, but the house in not air conditioned
2019年6月 • 夫妻情侣
It had been quite a while since we studied history, but this visit brought back many memories and offered new insights. The museum was extremely well done with artifacts and quotes leading you through Roosevelt's life. The path to the museum is gravel, so wheelchairs may find it a challenge. It is worth the effort to go there.

The museum is free. The house has a guided tour that requires tickets.
