Our visit was actually March 2024 but the drop down didn’t go back that far. This was our second visit, we decided to go on the Hidden Passages (now called Hidden Wonders) tour. A LOT more physically easier tour than the Natural Bridge tour. Yes, there are steps here & there but it was a LOT easier tour compared to the steep inclines throughout the other tour so I do recommend this tour over the other if you’re physically challenged, like myself..I have bad knees…or have heart/breathing problems because it’s physically less challenging.
There’s a light show at the end of the tour & a conveyor belt system to ride on which takes you back to the top. Because I fall easily, I chose to walk out instead of taking the conveyor which is extremely challenging & steep but there’s a rest stop halfway up to take a break, despite this, I was absolutely exhausted after climbing that steep hill so I may try the conveyor next time & hope I don’t fall. Overall, we had a great time & highly recommend.

If you have never been to natural caverns this is kind of cool. The discovery tour is a bit longer but the Hidden Wonders is slower and shorter. They have the adventure park and Maze for the kids so is a way to spend an afternoon. To make things better they have a moving walkway (BAT) to get out of the tunnel so no stairs.

Thank you Marcus, you were a really fun tour guide. Our kids really appreciate being able to ask questions about the mineral and rock formations in Natural Bridge Caverns. The jokes you shared were really great - we keep reshaping them. In terms of the natural beauty of NBC - this place place WOWs! The earth continues to impress us, and this place offers stunning examples of what geological time means...Our son, who is 7, was somewhat skeptical about the experience (preconceived notions about caves - dark, wet, cold, scary). He became a fan relatively quickly into the experience and left, no doubt, with different perspectives about the world around him. Thank you!

Somewhat commercial but amazing just the same. Pictures in the caves can be amazing. Guides are knowledgeable and enjoy sharing information. Great spot for the entire family and well worth the cost. Much walking is involved, but that is part of the fun.

Overall, very impressive and educational. We did both the Hidden Wonders and the Discovery tours. There’s a deal if you do both but if we had to pick one, we would pick the Discovery tour. The Discovery tour had much more impressive formations within the cave.
It would be beneficial for the operator to run smaller tour groups. The groups can be quite large and there can be a lot of waiting for people to catch up. Luckily, there’s a lot to look at while you wait. I would not recommend the cave tours for small children. There were many small children in our groups and most of them ended up crying, which echoed throughout the cave and was quite disruptive to the rest of the group. Once you are in the cave, you have to do the whole tour so there’s no easy exit from midway if a child gets scared or starting crying.

Incredible and outstanding! Highlight of my trip to San Antonio. The tour guide was excellent. We went on a rainy day which was the thing to do. It was in the 50's outside and about 75 degrees underground. The formations underground surpassed my understanding of what stalactites and stalagmites are. Definitely a must see place!

Absolutely gorgeous! Tour was 32 bucks a person and well worth it. Guided tour by experienced caver was very informative and fun. Bit of exercise but views were amazing. Lots to do for everyone of all ages.

One of the more impressive caverns that we've been to. One nice thing about the tour was that it was one-way, so you kept going in one direction, coming out a different way than you went in. You walk pretty deep into the cavern, so it's not for the faint of heart. We're pretty healthy and fit, and we were panting and tired by the time we got out.
Tour guide was a bit older and grouchy. One member of our party had a knee injury, so she walked a little slower. Guide seemed irritated that she had to wait for her to hobble to the entrance. Often started her talk before we all arrived (and not because of us, since we were often in the front).
Rope course in the back was pretty fun. A little tricky at first, but once you got used to it, it was pretty fun.

Really fun outing for families or friends! Stacy was our guide, she was so funny and knowledgeable! Reccomend scheduling last tour of the day (if you can) as it offered a more relaxed experience since there was no group waiting behind us!

It costs $28-32 US dollars for the Discovery Cave tour depending on the date you visit. This is a 75 minute tour.
There are surface attractions for kids like a maze, climbing structure, etc, but those cost extra. To be honest, I wouldn't do those. Instead, before the cave, because the temps are cooler and the animals will be awake, I would do the attraction right next door which is a drive-thru wildlife safari. It's called Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch. It's fantastic, and because you druve thru at your own pace, can take as long or as little as you'd like.

I don't remember seeing any signage about age requirements. As long as your kids can walk for an hour or so (with breaks) and listen to instructions to stay on a path and not touch the walls, they should be fine. There are some steep parts, with handrails, but nothing claustrophobic.

there are tours of 2 different caverns. Each tour take about a hour. Lots of climbing up & down stairs, so allow for some rest time between tours. If you take both tours. 3.5 - 4 hour minimum

I think you're asking the wrong question. I think that the question you need to ask is whether it would be advisable to take a one-year-old child into the Caverns. My suggestion is absolutely not.
I don't know if there's an age restriction or not, but it's dark in those caverns and there are potential trip & fall hazards throughout the caverns if you're not careful. A one-year-old will never be able to navigate that terrain alone, and if the parent carries her, they will both be vulnerable to trips and falls, along with excessive fatigue due to the climbing from low to high elevations that is normally required to move through the Caverns.

If we decide to do the twisted trails rails and rope course do we have to go all the way at up to the top or can we stay mid level and below? My 11 year old wants to do some of the course but not go all the way to the top. Which he might change his mind once he gets mid way up and is having fun but if he gets midway up and doesn’t want to go any higher I don’t want to have to make him.

Sorry for the delay in answering. The ropes course does not have a set path, so you can just explore the first level or go as high as someone is comfortable with going.
