La strada delle gallerie d'arte. Io non sono del ramo per cui ho iniziato a percorrerla conuna certa diffidenza ma ne sono rimasto folgorato. È assolutamente magnifico entrare nei giardini e nelle backyard di queste case trasformate in piccole gallerie d'arte. C'è veramente di tutto e l'atmosfera a un non so che di magico. Se siete a Santa Fe dovete farvi una passeggiata, rigorosamente a piedi, in Canyon Road.

We love visiting Kay Contemporary Fine Art. All of the staff is extremely friendly & helpful. A truly beautiful curated gallery with a stunning sculpture garden in the back.

If you are not willing to pretend you comprehend art, don't go here. Obviously fabulous for those in the loop, though. Probably should close the narrow, rough road to all but foottraffic. Hope you'll save time and energy to explore the authentic life of Santa Fe at the History Museum.

This road is lined with art galleries. It’s worth taking a walk down this road even if you aren’t interested in going inside or buying any art because of all of the outdoor sculptures, especially the kinetic ones, mostly at the beginning of the walk. It’s only about a 1 mile walk one way to the Teahouse, which makes a good turn around point.
Something to keep in mind is that there isn’t a full sidewalk all of the way down Canyon Road; instead, the sidewalk turns into a narrow, 1-person wide dirt path. If have a wheelchair or stroller, you’ll probably have to use the street.

We had heard that Canyon Road was a "must visit" place if you're in Santa Fe. I wouldn't characterize it that way, unless you are really really into art galleries. I was expecting more of a shopping area, with galleries but also shops and restaurants. It was pretty much 100% art galleries and sculpture gardens. We stopped in a few galleries, there's a great sculpture garden not far from the western entrance of the road. But otherwise it's not somewhere to spend too much time, unless you want to visit all the galleries.

Found some pottery we liked and the guy told us he would give us a great deal at over 50% off and it would come to $120. Found the same exact pottery in Taos for $65. Have to know what your price points are any where in Santa Fe.

Canyon Road is lined with a bunch of small art galleries that showcase a variety of different styles/mediums. Everything is pretty cool to look at and worth taking a walk over if you are already near Santa Fe Plaza.

We thoroughly enjoyed wandering the mile long street in Santa Fe's beautiful neighborhood art district. Galleries, shops, and restaurants abound in this uniquel historic area.

Canyon Road is lined with gallery after gallery of the artworks of local Santa Fe artists. It’s easy to spend a few hours walking and viewing all the outdoor displays. Finding parking on the narrow, busy road will be the difficult part Use a side street as your parking solution.

We visited only a few due to bad weather. Gallery owners were thrilled that we'd come out "in this weather!". Everyone very friendly, answered a lot of questions, showed no expectation that we would buy something. We were provided flyers of certain artists that I asked about and was allowed to take photographs. I'd love to be there when walking would have been easier & we could have visited more of the galleries.

Why, yes you can if you are able and would like to take in all the trees and sights along the way... If you are lucky and find a parking spot along the road, you will probably have to do some walking anyway!!! Lots of opportunities along the area!!!

I don't think all of the museums and attractions would be closed on Monday. I would check, as suggested, on the chamber website.
When we walk the road, we often just enjoy the outdoor sculptures and flower gardens. There are also stores and restaurants.

Hello!
I was wondering if you could tell me about parking near the Canyon Rd. galleries? I have read that their is parking at either end. We have a small motorhome and hoping to be able to park in somewhere nearby.
Thanks for any advice you might provide.

Parking is limited. I would advise you get there really early for the best spot. We were within walking distance of our suite so we did not have to address the parking issue. The city also has a shuttle service & UBER is operating as well. Have fun!!

Is Canyon Road easily experienced on my own, or do I need a tour guide?

Hi Pam! Great question. While a guide is not necessary to visit Canyon Road, a tour can offer insight and a nuanced (and fun!) experience of the area and of the artwork on view.
Some folks find it helpful to take a tour first and then continue exploring on their own.
I own Santa Fe Art Tours in addition to helping out with answers here, and we created a “Discover Canyon Road” to give folks an awesome Canyon Road experience. You can actually book it right here on TripAdvisor. I hope that helps!

Is there free parking anywhere?

Street parking along Canyon Road is free, but it can be tricky during busy times. Parking along Alameda Street, which runs parallel to Canyon Road, is also free. There is a small, free parking lot at the beginning of Canyon Road, as well.

Is there a close car rental company? I'm thinking we'd take the shuttle to the hotel for the first few days then rent a car for the second half of our trip. Thank you.

We always rent at the airport, but check Santa Fe car rental. It is the state capitol so I wouldn't be surprised if you'd find a rental company. Or, you might even ask at your hotel. Might there be a zip car? Again, ask your hotel. ENJOY
