Wow!!! What an incredible adventure and life changing experience. My husband and I went totally off grid for 14 days paddling down the white water in the Grand Canyon. The quietness, awe striking beauty and the magical energy was beyond what we could ever imagine. The boat guides were incredible. They were attentive to our needs and created a magical moment for us which will forever be etched in our souls. Thank you so much💕 Seneca, Will, Lenny, Garth, Tyler and Izzy. 😘

Loved our lower GC trip. Wonderful guides, good food and of course the scenery! Highly recommend AZRA for your trip down the Grand Canyon. My wife has also done the upper section with them and loved it as well.

I am still reveling from my 8 day motor raft trip Jul 26-Aug 2nd.
This truly was a magnificent adventure. Full of wondrous sights, great friendships and delicious foods. Our guides Ben and Tyler (and assistant Nick) were knowledgeable, helpful and experienced. Their poems, stories, education on the geology and concerns for everyone's well-being, along with Tylers incredible guitar playing and singing only added to the enjoyment of this experience. If you are able to deal with the heat, sleeping on a thin matt, cold water, and the challenges of the groover you will have an incredible journey. The sights and sounds from my trip which ended 5 days ago are still fresh in my mind as I share my video and photos with everyone I know. This truly fullfilled my bucket list!

Simon, thanks so much for taking time to review your rafting expedition you participated on with us! We appreciated it very much and are happy to hear how much you enjoyed your experience. Yep its not a "vacation", it is an immersive participatory experience which can not easily be described or understood until actually going. One has to be there, right!

This company is rad. We joined a 14 day row trip charter and added on duckies (inflatable kayaks). The operation and communications are totally dialed in. We felt completely prepared and like we knew exactly what to expect. The respect for Grand Canyon and the institutions and tribes that are part of its ecosystem really earned our respect, which deepened as we heard the guides describe how much they appreciate working with AzRA. As you’d expect, that appreciation means that the guides are amazing - skilled, personable, knowledgeable and willing to share how and why Grand Canyon is so special to them. The food was incredible, the rafting and rowing and paddling and hiking were incredible. I just cannot say enough good things. We hope to be back!!

Truly a fabulous two week trip. I kayaked with three friends and our spouses rode the rafts. All the guides were excellent and fun to be around. Our kayak guide adapted to our style and made our trip safer, easier and more fun. The Trip Leader set a great tone for the trip and made excellent choices regarding side hikes and campsites that were well matched to our group’s interests. Previously I had made this trip as a private boater eight times, and this was my first commercial trip. It is so hard to get a private permit any more we opted to pay the for a commercial trip and it was money well spent. I would gladly go again.

I finished my upper canyon rafting trip with AZRA two days ago. From the first moment, it's obvious this outfit is highly organized and professional. Safety is paramount, and ensuring every guest is getting the most out of their experience is their priority.
From the first orientation to the final step out of the canyon, I was impressed with the professionalism, concern and courtesy of every staff member.
Our guides; Finger, Cassidy, Nadir, Jeff and Miles, are experts at their craft, and shared a plethora of canyon knowledge with us. I felt entirely safe in the rapids, regardless of whose boat I was in. The guides are very entusiastic, and their love of their profession is clearly evident.
Our support staff; Hannah, Taylor and Laura labored tirelessly to ensure our every need was taken care of, every day, from sunrise to sunset.
What stood out most for me:
1. Professionalism: I can't stress that word enough. These folks know precisely what they're doing. You're safe in their capable hands. Safety is their highest priority.
2. Courtesy: Regardless of how tired or busy a staff member may be, they are polite and courteous.
3. Equipment: Everything worked, and worked well. No cutting corners.
4. Food! The food was nothing short of amazing. Healthy, delicious meals every time, and every guest's dietary needs were met.
5. Entertainment: There were a number of fun side hikes to see waterfalls, fossils, unusual crystals, petroglyphs, and playing in the turquoise rapids of the Little Colorado, among others. We were well entertained and educated on the canyon.
The list could go on, but suffice to say this outfit will leave you thrilled with your experience. I will absolutely book with them again. Well done and Bravo, AZRA. Many thanks.

This is a slightly different review. I did not go down the river with AzRA, but someone with AzRA found my missing phone. I was backpacking in Havasupai in August 2023, and one day, a group of us went down to the confluence of Havasu Creek and the Colorado. On the way back, it was brutally hot, so at some point, maybe two miles from the confluence, I decided to submerge myself into the creek. Just before I went in, I realized I had my phone in my pocket. I took it out of my pocket and put it.....somewhere. When I got out of the water, I dried off and we all took off on the path along Havasu Creek. Eventually, I realized I didn't have my phone.
I told everyone to go ahead, and I turned back to try to find my phone. In hindsight, that was stupid. I did not find my phone, and by the time I turned around to back to camp, I realized that I had not paid attention to where the trail went up to the plateau to get back to camp. I could see where I needed to get up, but I had no idea where the trail was. After an hour or so of searching, I decided that I would hunker down and sleep near the creek and wait until the next day when more people would come down. Thankfully, I am an avid backpacker so I had an inReach device, extra clothing and food, and plenty of water. The stars were amazing, and I had fun watching the bats eat dinner.
The next morning, I moved myself directly onto the trail so that I would be able to have someone show me where to climb up. Eventually, a young man looking for me came across my spot and showed me the way up. I knew it was right there, but it was not obvious unless you knew where to look. I was sad that I lost my phone and all the awesome photos, but I was happy that I would be able to make my flight home (despite having no credit card or license as that was all attached to my lost phone).
Three months later, I got a phone call. AzRA had found my phone, license and credit card included. I have no idea who found it or where they found it, but I was thrilled. I got my photos back! What a wonderful gift. Thank you whomever you are! I would really love to know how it was found. Thank you!

Wow MaryBeth that is quite the story! We are so glad everything turned out well in the end for you after a night alone by the creek with no gear! We were more than happy to track you down to return your phone and personal cards. We have wonderful, considerate and observant guides its not surprising one of them found your phone. Rachel R was the guide you found your phone. We will let her know how much you appreciated it!

I had one of the most positive experiences with this company that I've ever had in my life. From beginning to end, everything was perfect. The preparation that they gave us in terms of providing information about what to expect and how to prepare for the trip was thorough, the meeting and brief training the night before was also excellent. Once we got on the river, the guides were absolutely amazing. Each of them was a perfect host. You're on a raft with a guide for six to eight hours each day, and they have to entertain, educated, and converse, and they were all outstanding. Each of them had such a deep knowledge of the river and its history, and a real love and reverence of the place that I always felt like I was in good hands. Truly, these people did such a great job. They cooked us amazing food every day, they took us over some really serious rapids, and they instilled us with a real love and respect for the Canyon. To the guides: Joy, John O, Seneca, Tyler, Garth and Jerry, I thank you from the bottom of the heart for an amazing experience.
If you're going to raft the Grand Canyon, definitely go with AZRA.

Wondering how noisy the motors are in the quiet stretches of the river. Thanks!
撰写日期:2021年6月18日
Hi there D_Otter50, sorry for the late reply we dont check TA that regularly. AzRA uses environmentally friendly quiet technology 4 stroke 30 HP outboards. They burn cleaner and are much quieter than the old 2 stroke outboard motors. You can speak and hear normal tones of voice when the motor is running. It is also in the back of the boat with raft rubber around the motor so the sound is really dampened at the normal low RPM they are run at most of the time. Occasionally they may be reved up to pass another group or say in a rapid, but rapids are louder than the motor. Most folks find them pleasantly quieter than they had expected.

what month is the best time to go? I don't want to go in 100 degree heat. but want to feel I can swim and not be cold going through rapids.
撰写日期:2017年1月18日
Hello outdoortravelfun,
The only months that you will probably not see 100 degree heat in the commercial rafting season are April and Oct. You will probably have some of those temps even in May and Sept, and for sure will June-July. Rafting the river is still very doable even in the hottest months as the river is very cold, so the rafting portion is fun in that heat, in that it is more fun to be splashed. With cooler temps you may not look forward to getting wet in rapids much. Whatever time you go, it is a great trip hot or cold. So right now for 2017, the problem will be finding an expedition, as AzRA and most other outfitter are almost completely full. 2018 is getting full as well. You should contact AzRA for more information as to availability.
撰写日期:2017年1月18日
I'm registered for an All Paddle trip next may - have signed up for the entire river but I have to shorten it - I'm not sure what trip you did, but would you have a recommendation of upper versus lower?
撰写日期:2016年11月5日
Hi Ajbreault, You have gotten some very good responses to your question here on TA, the posters are all correct, it is very hard to pick a half and there may me various reasons to pick one over another. Going the whole way is always best if you can do it, because you miss nothing that way! Please contact AzRA directly 800 786 7238 or email for help determining which half might be best for you?
撰写日期:2016年11月7日
Hi Dixie880, Thanks for asking, AzRA is almost completely booked for 2016, we have 3 spaces on a July 12 motor adventure and 1 space on each of our paddle trip in July and August. It is always worth contacting us to be added to a wait list for any dates that might open up, as cancellations do occur regularly. Be aware that 2017 is getting full as well, so if you want to go down the river it is best to book soon. Thanks for your interest!
