It was a rainy day so there were about 40 guests on the tour. Cynthia did an excellent job of presenting and sharing information about City Hall. Her love of the subject and our city certainly came through. Geri kept the group together through all 28 floors of City Hall.

Art Deco at It Best. Nearing 100 Years old, Buffalo City Hall is an incredible place to Explore. Highly recommend the Main Floor and the Observation Deck at the Top. Wear comfortable shoes as Stair climbing is required on the top three levels, but well worth it!

My family was travelling through Buffalo en route to Ontario and wanted a quick stop in Buffalo to say “we’ve been there”. I found City Hall observation deck on TripAdvisor and it fit the bill. Really easy access from the highway. We parked in the municipal parking lot across the street. You do need to go through metal detectors to enter the building. Interior of the building is magnificent. Take the express elevator to the top floor. Easy stairs to the observation deck. Great view…and it’s free! Another couple suggested we check out the city council chambers on the 13th floor, which is definitely worth a look. We were back on the road in about 30 minutes.

The Buffalo City Hall is an imposing, grand building. In front of it is the William McKinley Memorial. There are murals in the first floor lobby area and an observation deck on the 28th floor. You'll need to go through basic security to enter the building. The first floor murals are really impressive. To get to the observation desk, you take the elevator to the 25th floor and then have to walk up stairs to the 28th. But once you're there, what a view!

We took the daily noon tour of Buffalo City Hall and thoroughly enjoyed it! Having lived in the area almost my whole life, I had never been inside. Mary led the tour of about 15 people. She was so knowledgeable and friendly and could answer every question. Filled with information on the art and architecture, she also knew the history of the city and could name the buildings in the vicinity. I learned so much! I highly recommend this tour!

Security bag check as it's a government building of course.
There is an elevator but need to climb a few stairs to reach the observatory. It's pretty cool. Grab a sandwich to enjoy the view.

What a spectacular, 32-story Art Deco building. It was completed in 1931. When you enter Buffalo you see it immediately on the horizon. Buffalo City Hall was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.

If you appreciate Buffalo's historic architecture, take 15 minutes to view the lobby and take the elevator to the 25th floor/walk the final 3 floors to the rooftop viewing area. It was under construction while we were there, but there were informative yesterday/today photos for each viewing window. Terrific view of the harbor and Lake Erie.

Primary Reason for the trip was to visit the Martin House and gardens as well as the Martins summer home about 30 minutes away on the shore of Lake Erie, both designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Whether your a fan of his architecture, to see and hear about his his design brilliance is worth the visit. Of course if you are in Buffalo a trip to Niagara Falls is a must. We had wonderful views from Goat Island. Although not originally part of our plan the Buffalo AKG Art Museum is a must as well.

There is no booking, but the tours start a fixed times. You can take the elevator, followed by stairs, to the roof lookout. Parking lot can be found a block away. Have a good time - we did.

Yes the downtown train station is walkable. The Depew station is abut 10 miles from downtown. The water in Lake Erie is in the mid 70's right now. Colder of course in the early summer and fall. There is one sand beach close to down town near the small boat harbor, but the water there is un-swimable. You need to head south of Buffalo for the best beaches or to Canada. They have the best beaches. But you'll need a passport or enhanced drivers license to enter Canada.
Yes even though we are neighbors with Ontario Canada, we speak English, and so does Ontario

The question is, "Is this ok for 65-68 year olds?"
It depends less on your age than it does your ability to climb 3 flights of stairs. Only you can assess your health level regarding climbing stairs.
I would note that if you have a fear of "heights", the view might scare sensitive individuals.
There is a provision for handicapped individuals to obtain access at the elevator drop off level. Since I didn't use that option, I have no additional advice. Call first to avoid being disapointed.
