Fascinating to see 13-14th century cave dwellings so well preserved. The hike up is vigorous, but there are places to rest - and if you're a bit acrophobic don't look down as you will see some steep drops.

The views are beautiful and it's an incredible achievement to have made these dwellings so far up and hidden. Worth a visit (as well as the Roosevelt Dam!)

We loved this place - never wanted to leave. The trail to the lower cliff dwellings was steep but paved. The Saguaro cacti are magnificent. The view from the cliff dwellings out over Roosevelt Lake are stunning. The museum is small and informative. We enjoyed the short film. Can’t imagine the task of toting water all the way up here from the river below. There is a very small exhibit in the museum about how staff wrapped the monument to save it from the recent wildfire in 2019. Thank you for saving this fantastic piece of Native American history, NPS. Love you. ❤️. See you again soon.

Yes, it is quite historic and unique, so for that I think it's great to be preserved as a cultural park. Interesting enough to see. However, everything about getting there (i.e. the long drive out to this place in the middle of nowhere and the trip straight up the mountain to see it) in hindsight just didn't seem worth it after seeing everything. Yes, it's good to check the NM off your list, but don't be in a hurry to visit otherwise. You'll learn more about it online than in person.

We stopped in here on our way from Payson (1 hour north) to Tucson (2 hours south). It is off the beaten path so unless you are travelling this route you have to plan to go here.

The park provides access to a cliff dwelling. (Lower Dwelling) which is accessed by a paved path about 1/2 mile long with a gain in elevation of about 500 feet. So it is not an easy walk. But once there you are allowed to enter the dwelling to look around. My wife and I are in our 60's and in average shape and we made it. Its not a sprint, take your time and a bottle of water.

The path up provides spectacular views of not only the dwelling but Theodore Roosevelt Lake and the surrounding mountains and scenery. Lots of different species of cactus and other vegetation to see. Lots with ID plaques on them.

It was worth the hike up the hill and we are glad we stopped to see it. Cost is $10 per person

The drive was awesome, the terrain changed every few miles. The national park monument ranger at the lower cliff dwelling was very helpful. The visitors center movie was very informative.

Worth using the roads for, these cliff dwellings are in a very strategic location overlooking the dammed lake. Their true worth is only revealed by stopping and taking the ascent from the visitor centre. On our stop here, we were fortunate to encounter a very friendly ranger at the Lower Cliff Dwellings, who was ready and able to answer any questions we posed, and could give an excellent summary of the entire Tonto basin's history.

This is a beautiful national monument, complete with well preserved ruins. The hike up is somewhat steep but the view makes it completely worthwhile. A nice visit.

Reasonably short hike up a steep paved trail to some really nicely preserved ruins. The ranger at the top was quite knowledgeable and the view of the surrounding area alone is worth the walk. Remember to bring water with you - but we could hike up and back down in a little less than an hour with plenty of time to look around.

We'd been several years ago to do the guided hike to the Upper Ruins, but came back to check out the Lower Ruins...and to see how the Monument had survived the fires in recent years, especially the Woodbury Fire in 2018. Firefighters and staff did a remarkable job to keep the ruins and visitor center safe.

The hike to the Lower Ruins is short and steep. It's paved, but gains 300-350' over a half mile. If you have orthopedic issues, consider it carefully...and watch your kids! The lead ranger was up at the Lower Ruins and we had a nice chat. The picnic area is quite nice. Each table has it's own parking and decent privacy. Nice restrooms at the picnic area, only porta-potties at the Visitor Center. Well worth the stop if you're in the area.
