The Luau was amazing, our first time in Hawaii, the Ka Mauna Luau was excellent. The people were friendly from the entry lines, receiving our leis, the food and the entertainment, it was everything I thought it would be and more. It’s a must if you’re in the area. Mahalo

There was a line up to get in , took a nice photo that if you wanted you had to pay , I’ve been to other luaus where dancers walk around and you can take free photos. The location was the working docks where the containers are for shipping and all night there was a loud buzzing noise ( all night ) from the docks. The food was served in a plastic container and you had to lineup in a warehouse. The entertainment was good. The dancers danced good. I would choose another one because of location and food distribution was poor. Typically luaus that I remember were on a beach overlooking the sunset , I just saw big shipping containers. Also at luaus they show you how they make the meat in the ground this didn’t have that either . The service was nice , we had fun and made the best of it , I was just surprised with the location, had I known I wouldn’t have chosen this one .

The show was excellent. The food was good, except for the dessert which was weak, with no selection.
Also, they played games with the drink tickets; you had to pay extra to get most drinks, and pina colada wasn't available. And they kept calling / texting me a day or two before the Luau, trying to get me to pay more for an "upgrade".

HIGHLY...... disappointing experience! First time visit to the Hawaiian island & the Moana luau was terrible. The food was awful, was served up buffet style with very sad selection on menu. The entertainment was even worse, left right after the awful dinner, found our on way back to our hotel. I recommend anyone visiting the island to do there research on luau before purchasing!

Not impressive at all. My wife and I were very bored and disappointed. We spent too much money for not much at all. The food wasn’t terrible, though.

Everything was amazing. We really enjoyed the show and learning about the culture and about the Aloha tower. The only thing I didn't like is that you can miss part of the show when at the bar or standing in line for dinner.

I was very disappointed. Do not download and put the tickets in your phone they make you wait in line anyway. The food was not great and would not give us all three meats.
We purchased classic and could not hear much. We were offered an upgrade for $20 but refused. they give you a drink ticket but it’s only for well drinks and will need to pay if you want more.
the luau was in the middle of the aloha tower which is a business complex by the pier. the entertainment was ok but the staff was not friendly at all.
i emailed them about my experience and still have not heard a response.
i would definitely pay the extra and go with Germaine’s

The aloha tower was
Nice to take pictures but that’s it. The show was poor not what I was expecting. When I booked the luau they made it seem like it was a traditional luau not even close. Supposedly we get free drinks the bartender had the drinks already prepared they tasted nasty all water down and you could taste the cheap alcohol. Also the food was not good at all I think I had better at a cheap restaurant than what they charge here for that nasty food. I would not be recommending that place to anyone I know.

I would like to buy Luau tickets from Ka Moana, and I would like to know the difference between buying on the Ka Moana Luau website, or on the tripadvisor website. Because from tripadvisor I realized that I can book and pay later, but does that not guarantee my immediate reservation?

I called them directly (website) and bought tickets since it was only a few days before the show when I decided to go. However, I was told I bought two last ones and turned out there were plenty of seats left....not sure why.
I don't know what will be the difference but I received confirmation email and receipt right after and you can enter the Sea life center with the Luau booking number for free.

I see on the website that check-in begins at 5PM. What is the latest time we can arrive? We have someone in our group that is arriving around 5:30PM-- would our group be able to arrive around 6PM for the luau?

Mahalo for your question! As amckenz07 mentioned, the Lūʻau is located at Sea Life Park Hawaiʻi, which has dolphin experiences. There is no wildlife present at the Lūʻau but the price does include free general admission to the park along with your ticket.

Aloha,
Check-in for the Lūʻau is between 4:45 and 5:15 PM. We start to open the doors to the Lūʻau around 5:20/5:30 PM based on package purchased (Celebrity guests get first entrance, followed by Splash and Classic).
After you've entered the Lūʻau grounds you'll have the opportunity to take your souvenir photograph, visit the tiki bar and participate in the cultural activities!

Mahalo for your question! You are absolutely correct :) Every Lūʻau ticket includes a free general admission pass for Sea Life Park. You can use it the same day (before) as your Lūʻau, or you can return within 7 days after your Lūʻau date to redeem.

Do they do any foul rates? We are looking to have 20 or 30 people attend after our wedding and need something accommodating, a great show and since we are paying for everything and everyone not going to hurt the pockets to terribly to speak as we have much else we are doing our stay there.

Bonjour. I have been to the Polynesian Cultural Center as well, but not for the dinner and show. The Polynesian Cultural Center is great, but it is much more crowded and "touristy", in my opinion. For an intimate, family oriented, more relaxed luau, I would bet on the Ka Moana. Hope this helps.
