We stopped in to the welcome center after crossing the mighty Mississippi River. The views of the two bridges from the welcome center are impressive and the staff were very friendly and helpful!

This is a good place to stop if traveling I-20. There is a scenic overlook where great pics can be made. The restrooms are clean.

We were under the impression we could park our rv overnight here. We read it on the internet, it was touted by one of cthe rv videos on you.tube and appears on this review, as of April 2021. Today we pull into the welcome center parking lot and there are signs saying “no overnight parking.” Very disappointing. Guess they decided they are a welcome center only.

Rating this a visitor's centre really, as the real attractions are in town. It's in a great location overlooking the Mississippi River and the 2 bridge crossing there. Definitely worth a stop if you're just passing through. If you're staying in town, it depends on how much extra time you have. It's all about the view.

A plethora of information and maps; antebellum displays; clean restrooms; free coffee; great view of the Mississippi River... But most of all, very helpful and knowledgeable staff who can answer your questions, offer suggestions, and guide you in the right direction. It's hard to beat some of the welcome centers of Tennessee, but the Vicksburg Welcome Center comes close.

Even if you have planned every minute of your trip to Vicksburg, Mississippi, from where to stay to where to eat to what to see, I would encourage visitors to stop at the Warren County or Mississippi Welcome Center before embarking on your tour of the city. Located at 4210 Washington Street, off I-20 at the Vicksburg Bridge and Business Route 61, it is open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mississippi is tourist-driven and the state has excellent welcome centers at several locations. They look like antebellum structures with neatly manicured grounds, picnic tables and grills, RV waste disposal facilities, 24-hour security, restrooms, weather information and motor coach parking. Pick up a free Mississippi official tour guide. You'll find brochures on lodging, restaurants and attractions in Vicksburg and throughout the state and friendly, courteous and knowledgable staff members to give advice and recommendations and point you in the right direction. If you're going to travel elsewhere in the state, be sure to pick up a Mississippi Highway Map, a Civil War Historical Sites map, a Blues Trail map, a Freedom Trail map, even a golf guide. I like to plan our trips thoroughly in advance but I usually discover, once we arrive on the scene, that I've forgotten something. And there's always something new to add to your itinerary. It's never a bad thing to ask.

The State of Mississippi Visitors Center in Vicksburg is a safe and great place to visit. Traveling from Texas I got to the center right after they closed for the evening. The onsite security staff was very friendly and got me a state guide and map. He told me for great pictures to go to the back of the building to take pictures of the river. Even though it was after hours the ground were well lit, lots of tourists taking great photos and it was very safe. The bathrooms were very clean. If you want a safe place to take great photos of the bridges and river this is a must stop.

When we stopped to get information from here they told us that the things we wanted to see were closed. When we went they were not. That is very disappointing if we would have listened to them and not even checked.

As a couple of retirees who travel a lot from coast to coast, other travelers often ask us for advice when planning a vacation trip. "Where do we start first?" is the first question. "At the local visitors center," is our first response. You'd be surprised at how much valuable information you can obtain at the local visitors center. Like at the Warren County Welcome Center, the gateway to Vicksburg, Mississippi. Located at 4210 Washington Street, at I-80 and Highway 61, overlooking the Vicksburg Bridge and the Mississippi River, it also is known as the Mississippi Welcome Center. Open from 8 to 5 daily, it is a great place to plan your visit to historic Vicksburg. Everything you need is available...state roadmaps, brochures for the Vicksburg National Military Park and other Civil War sites and state and local attractions, hotels, bed-and-breakfasts, restaurants, casinos. If you have any questions, the friendly and knowledgeable staff will have the answers. There also is free coffee and clean restrooms--and a spectacular view of the Mississippi River. Downtown Vicksburg is just around the corner.
