Disappointing, the hot springs run through town, and that is about it not much here!! The water is crystal clear, it would have been nice if you could access and take your shoes off and soak in the water.

I stopped in for information about Hot Springs and a recommendation for a restaurnat. Very friendly man gave good advice.

Along the main street in town near the river and natural spring, you will find an old train station and some historic buildings, including a jail that once house Calamity Jane, the serve as a welcome area. There is not a lot there. We ate lunch across the street.

We went on Sunday in July and all springs are “spas” nothing natural there. If you have disabled people in your group you will find it not exciting

The old railroad depot building was historic all by itself. The location was very picturesque by the river. The man we talked to was very helpful. They had a lot of informational pamphlets about Hot Springs as well as informational pamphlets about the surrounding area. It was "worth the stop."

The visitor center is located in the historic Union Depot train station built in 1891. It's a great place to stop and get information about Hot Springs and the Black Hills - and a good rest stop if you've been in the car awhile. Beside the depot building a caboose and a small historic jailhouse from the Dakota Territory (1888) are on display. The historic depot and the block of buildings on the opposite side of River Street are constructed of locally-quarried pink sandstone that has a distinctive look. The visitor center sits on the bank of the Fall River, next to a paved walkway called the Freedom Trail that follows the river 1.3 miles south through a greenway that connects Kidney Springs Park, Centennial Park, Brookside Park and Veterans Memorial Plaza at Mueller Civic Center. If you walk down the path about .2 mile, you'll find a lovely gazebo at Kidney Springs and a small waterfall trickling down a rocky hillside beneath an American Flag dedicated to our nation's veterans. Note that the Visitors Center is open seasonally.

Lovely old building beside the river and the woman who was working the day we arrived in Hot Springs was very helpful. There is lots of phamplets of things to do around Hot Springs.

Unique original building (including restroom). Wonderful hostess, just full of information we would never have known about otherwise. Such as: why most of the local vehicles have some degree of hail damage; The Evans 1892 hotel -- completely remodeled into modern apartments for older adults (since 1979 but gutted with a fire); services at the VA Hospital and a state vs local control fight to move it to Rapid City and build a new hospital; information about the fabulous 2-year old State Home for Veterans from Long Term Care to Independent Living (a beautiful facility with bronze soldier inside entry); smallest National Veterans Cemetery; Veterans Monument onsite in cemetery; Hot Springs' love of Veterans; the clearly visible white Gazebo on the walking trail that enshrouds a constantly running natural spring with a plaque listing analysis of minerals and content in that water; hotels (2) with natural springs inside; and more.

We had an early start so I was surprised to see this facility open in the morning. Inside was the standard fare of local brochures and a helpful attendant.
