Myself and a few family members were in the Hot Springs area between Thanksgiving and Christmas a few months ago.. Bill (a Southern Boy too) gave us a great tour experience!
We were able to go to several sites, including Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse and Custer State Park.. My favorite were the tunnels on Iron Mountain Road.. The amount of Bison, deer and even mountain goats was amazing! Our guide, "Bill Martin", has lived in South Dakota for 30+ years and there is NOTHING he does not know.. If you can take his tour I would 'highly suggest it'! Be sure you pick his brain on the history of this area, it will astound you... History includes "Black Hills Gold Rush", Wyatt Earp and Calamity Jane, Wild Bill Hickok, not to mention Crazy Horse and Mt. Rushmore (behind the scenes stories).. Its a "WOW" tour! I don't think you will find a more qualified, personable and knowledgeable guide..

Last May we left the UK to undertake a road trip which included South Dakota, where we stayed in Hot Springs in order to visit the Black Hills. As we were unfamiliar with the area and we wanted to make the most of our time, we decided to find a local guide who could show us the highlights. We selected Bison Express Tours based on favourable reviews on Trip Advisor.
We had an excellent personalised full-day tour (7am to 6pm) by Bill Martin, who we found to be very friendly and knowledgeable – with a great sense of humour! We had a fabulous day touring round Wind Cave National and Custer State Parks, where we saw many bison, prairie dogs, coyote, various deer and our favourite – a beautiful bluebird. We also visited the Mount Rushmore National Memorial and Crazy Horse Memorial to see the impressive rock carvings. We can highly recommend Bison Express Tours, based on our experience.

Let me be the sixth person to give Bill an "Excellent" rating.
A top notch guy. I reached out to Bill a couple months prior to visiting the area with my two kids. Originally he was not going to be doing tours on the day I requested but said he would rearrange his schedule.
He said he would meet us in the lobby of our hotel at 8 and he was spot on.
The day we went out it was rainy and foggy. Our day was going to include Custer, Wind Cave, Crazy Horse and Mt. Rushmore.
I love bison, and not long into Wind Cave we came upon some. Bill, bless his heart was patient with all my "slow down I have to take a picture"
He was great with my kids and made a point of including them throughout the day
Extremely knowledgable, great sense of humor and an easy conversationalist.
He even made an extra attempt for us to see Crazy Horse but the fog was too thick.
I would not hesitate to send my friends to this man for a day of touring and history

Bill (Bison Express) gave us an awesome experience in South Dakota. He's knowledgeable about the areas and we had plenty of time to tour the monuments. Bill also showed us many photo opportunities in the drive at the parks and Needles. Highly recommend this tour!

My wife and i went with Bill Martin (Bison Express Tours ) through the Black Hills in mid September. As there were only the two of us Bill took us in his personal vehicle rather than the tour bus . This made for a more relaxed , informative personal experience.Whilst the highlights were Mt Rushmore and the Crazy House Memorial( a work in progress), our long term memories will include the free and easy way Bill shared his knowledge of the local history, wildlife and scenic beauty of this area.From this experience we were able to swap stories and our personal histories( we were the first Kiwis Bill had met) and we ended the day as friends who had shared a great day together..

We actually went for Labor day weekend this year. This tour was awesome!! He picked us up from our hotel in the morning around 9 and the tour was until 5pm. Got to go to all the national parks around (around 4 of them) and Crazy Horse plus Mt. Rushmore!! He stopped and let us take pictures plus took many pictures of the group. Even had apples to feed the burros and I absolutely loved it!! Thank you for the wonderful tour.

My wife and I took a vacation to Mount Rushmore and the surrounding area. When we arrived in Hot Springs and got to our motel I called Bison Express Tours that evening and talked to Bill Martin who is a tour guide. My wife and I were picked up at 8 am and were back at 3 pm. Bill picked us up in his suv because there was just two of us. Bill drives a school bus so our tour was cut short by an hour. Bill took us to Mount Rushmore where we had lunch and stayed for a couple of hours. We also visited Crazy Horse and took in the sites. Bill drove us through Wind Cave and Custer Parks. Bill was very informative and told us all about the area. He took us where we were able to see different wild life and Bill would stop so we could take plenty of pictures. We were never hurried. Sometimes Bill would say this would be a great picture so we would stop.We went through tunnels where we could see Mount Rushmore. Bill is very passionate about his work. I would recommend this tour because Bill knows the area and where the Bison are at. We would never have been able see what we saw without Bill. The price is 60.00 per person and well worth the money. My wife and I made a great friend. If you take this tour please tip Bill.

Bill was an abosulete terrifc guide! He was very compassionete about the history and the animals throughout the parks. The tour was very enjoyable and relaxing. I had time to just sit back to take in all South Dakota had to offer. We took hundreds of photos and Bill was very patient with us during the entire trip. In the end it was less about paying for a tour, which was well worth the cost, but gain a precious friend.
