We appreciated during a tour in November 2019, this very original Buddhist religious site because it is perched on the side of a cliff; accessible by stairs or elevator, with the small town of Pindaya at the bottom; beautiful view from the top; and interesting umbrella factory downstairs.

Very popular, probably the most popular attraction in Pindaya. There is an elevator so you do not have to climb much. Very busy and cave is fill with all kinds of Buddhas. Cave is massive. Do not expect it to be some out of the way cave with few tourists. major tourist attraction.

A rather bizarre and vast collection of Buddhas inside massive caves at Pindaya. Well worth a stop if you are on the road because of its quirkiness. You wonder what mindset started a trend of building Buddhas of all sizes in a cave. Indeed we wandered at this throughout as we drove around Myanmar! The more, of course, the merrier!

Heho空港から車で約1時間、Pindaya Caveまでは、赤土でブドウが栽培されていました。２月に行きましたが、用水が無い為。野菜などの栽培地は見られませんでした。Pindayaに着くまで に、入域料5ドルを徴収されます。
鍾乳洞の中に 仏塔、仏像が所狭しと並んであり、目移りがします。入口近くの仏像、仏塔の前では、ミャンマーの人が熱心にお祈りしていました。中に入ると迷路です。迷いました。汗をかく黒い仏像が2体ありましたが、1１時頃だったので、汗はかかれていませんでした。寄進された仏像も沢山あります。日本の人も寄進されています。洞窟内には8000体以上の仏像があるそうですが、あまりに多すぎて、なかなか印象に残るような仏像に出会えなかったのが残念です。

.....on entering this series of caves. It's a very holy site and to ensure access for all there is a choice of covered walk up or elevators. We took the elevator up but walked back down. There is so much to see that you really just don't know where to look first and there are quite a number of caves and caverns to visit. There are Buddha images of every conceivable size, shape, style, colour in every nook and cranny. All been lovingly placed there by some devout family or individual and all bearing different meanings and intentions, I'm sure, dependent on the donor.
This is an amazing experience. Don't miss it if you can possibly get there. The path up from the carpark is fun. It has all sorts of large concrete images, notably a large globe where even NZ is featured (good one, Burma), a series of statues which more or less equates to Shakespeares speech for Jacque about the Ages of Man, and most amusingly, an enormous and supposed to be scary spider perched right by the steps!
Do note that shoes have to be left behind and that the pathways and steps inside the cave can be slippery and uneven.
A most facsinating visit. Allow at least a couple of hours.

Sehr Beeindruckend. Ein Höhlensystem mit über 8.000 Buddhas Taten. Gut Beleuchtet. Ein Besuch lohnt sich.

Je kunt deze cave bezoeken en met lift bereiken. Wat betreft beelden niet veel anders dan de voorgaande 1000. Mensen laten hier eigen gedenkteken plaatsen

Ciao a tutti,
abbiamo un dubbio su come arrivare a pindaya e l'eventuale costo dei taxi (che dalla guida sembra il modo migliore per andarci)
Noi arriveremmo da Yangon in bus notturno e non sappiamo se :
A- fermarci a Kalaw con il bus alle 04:00, prendere il taxi, andare a pindaya e poi farci portare a Nyaung Shwe dove dormiremo.
B- Arrivare direttamente fino a Nyaung Shwe alle 06:00, fare il check-in in hotel e andare a pindaya con taxi.
Nella variante A, avendo i bagagli con noi, non sapremmo dove lasciarli; riusciremmo a fare il tragitto Kalaw-pindaya- Nyaung Shwe con lo stesso taxi (in questo modo potremmo lasciare sopra i bagali)? oppure il taxi che ci porterebbe da Kalaw ci lascerebbe in balia dei gradini e dei buddha dorati con tanto di bagagli perchè non andrà mai a Nyaung Shwe ?? :D
Non sapendo se a pindaya c'è la possibilità di lasciarli in un buco ( depositi, coin locker, una posta ecc..) cosa ci conviene fare?

We plan to take a private car from Mandalay to Lake Inle at the beginning of September.

I am not sure if I can help you as we flew from Yangon to Heho & then had a 2hr bus drive to Pindaya, The caves are certainly worth the visit. We stayed overnight In Pindaya then went by bus to Nyuang Shwe - Inle Lake (about 90km). I would certainly try & fit the visit in if your itinerary allows it.

Yes it is possible. Usually if you hire a taxi for the whole day, the driver will let you know the default touring places of the day that will be covered by him. U may want to start the journey earlier so that you could hop on to several places along the route instead of just the Pindaya cave.

Does anyone know how to make a donation and have a buddha placed in Pindaya cave? I tried to find out when I was there last month, but couldn't get an answer. I have contacted a couple of Myanmar travel sites since getting home, and no one has been able to answer my question.
