Great experience with this company. My husband and I traveled with two teens and a four year old. This was an awesome experience for all. Our guide Mike was funny and informative. Our captain was very attentive and made sure the four year old enjoyed himself.
We saw many inexperienced kayakers getting stuck in the mangroves. If you are traveling with young children or are not comfortable in a kayak, I highly recommend this company.

We had a great experience on the bio bay tour, and a big part of that was Baby Bay's staff. Our guide, Michael, was very knowledgeable and even had a laser pointer he used to point out things like iguanas and crabs as we made our way through the channel to Laguna Grande (the name of the bio bay in Fajardo). The boat captain was also excellent. I was very impressed with how he was able to easily navigate his way through the narrow channel in the dark! The staff at the departure area was very friendly as well. Check in was easy, and they had bottled water and homemade baked goods awaiting us when we returned. We were SO glad we chose to take the electric boat instead of the kayaks. The kayakers really struggled on the way back since they were going against the current. At one point, we waited as we watched the kayakers desperately paddle and just stay in one place. There was a teenaged girl from another company of about 16 who, bless her heart, simply could not get anywhere. She was visibly upset and lagging behind her group so our guides graciously invited her into the boat and towed her kayak back to the launch area. Baby Bay just seems like an all-around great company with great staff!
Some things to know about the bio bay in general:
- Do not expect to see the vivid glow seen in pictures online. There is too much light pollution in the area to see that, even in the most ideal conditions. We saw more of a sparkle when we splashed the water with our hands and stirred the water with the long sticks provided. It was still neat, and the kids, 8, 10, and 11 thoroughly enjoyed it.
- You will see less bioluminescence after periods of rain. The tiny organisms called dinoflagellates that create the light thrive in the high salinity caused by the way the mangrove roots filter the water. Rain dilutes the water thus causing the organisms to move deeper where the salt content is higher.
- WEAR BUGSPRAY! We doused ourselves before the trip and didn't get bitten, but another couple did not and were getting eaten alive. We of course let them use ours and they were fine after that.
Overall, it was a really great experience and I'm glad we did it! Just be sure to keep in mind that mother nature can't be controlled and enjoy the whole experience including the trip to and from the bay, not just the bioluminescence.

We booked at the last minute for our elderly parents and sister. The rest of us kayaked. It was advertised as one of 2 electric boat tours on Laguna Grande and boasts very experienced Captain and knowledgeable guide. They smelled gasoline motor. They left in the dark so didn't get to see the canal of trees that we kayaked through. The bio-luminescent bay was sooooo over-rated. I'm not sure why they had a guide because he didn't bother explaining anything about the area and what the bay was all about. My parents have traveled to nearly 100 countries and taken tours in each of those countries. They said this was the worst tour and the biggest waste of $50 pp. Don't take any tours to the bay, unless you don't mind paying the steep price and just want to see a bay. Don't let those photos of glowing water under kayaks fool you. It's very tiny sparks (not many) in the water when you stir it. That's it!

My fiance and vacationed in Puerto Rico last week. We had the pleasure of booking a bioluminescent tour through Baby Bay. The reaction of the plankton is a must see!! My fiance really wanted to be in the Kayaks, but after reading reviews of others falling in and trudging through the waist deep murky waters if the mangrove I was not convinced. I instead found solace in the comfort of Baby Bays electric boat. We had a small group of six, a family of four with a four year old son and My fiance and I. Yesenia made the booking process simple and always had a smile. Capt. Abby and our guide Michael were the BEST! They were so informative and had keen eyes for the wildlife in the mangroves. We had a clear and starry night and the water was warm and very inviting. We were giving sticks to stir up the plankton and get the breathtaking reaction. We were also able to use our hands, which many of us preferred (including the four year old)! Unfortunately, the view is only worth having because to try and capture it on camera is impossible! On the way back in, the inevitable happened. The kayakers experienced a rough current that forced many out of their boats, and some into our boat! This gave us extra time on the boat as they all had to manuver through the mangroves! My fiance was then happy with my choosing the boat tour! Definitely book with Baby Bay!!!!!
P.S.
They provided tasty authentic Puerto Rican treats made by the owner after the end of the tour!

We had a great time on this tour. Captain Suarez and crew were excellent. we took the boat because the teens were not strong swimmers or ready to kayak, but the boat was a great choice. Crew was patient in showing how to make the bay light up, were able to answer all the questions and were great at pointing out the huge iguanas! I highly recommend this tour and this company!

We are a family of five, our children are too young to kayak (in this location) and so we weren't able to take the tour except for the electric boat. I am so glad that we did. I mentioned that it was my husband's 40th birthday. We came to the check in and they had a cake, card and gifts. It was such a wonderful surprise and what I came to expect in PR. The bay is so magical but the lagoon is so much more special. The mangroves are such a magical canopy where you see sleeping Iguanas and hear all of the jungle wild life. Would do this tour again! They are such great people!

Our family of 7 - grandparents, parents and 3 children ages 8, 7 and 6 - enjoyed a peaceful and educational cruise through the mangroves into the beautiful bio-luminescent lagoon. Our boat captain was careful and skillful, and we felt safe the whole time. (We saw a kayak with two people capsize.) Our guide was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions - and the kids' questions too. The staff was very kind and the snacks were first rate. The owner, Laly, makes the best traditional Puerto Rican candies!
It was an excellent experience in every respect. We highly recommend Baby Bay!

Great group to lead you in to the bio bay especially if you arent a great kayaker or want to take kids.
Crew was very knowledgeable about the bay.
Dont trust all the negative reviews about the bio bay. Alot of reviews I read called it dissappointing and not as bright as what is pictured. Well, it's not like what is pictured... I say its better because you actually get to see it in person. Plan your trip according to lunar phases as the darker the night sky the more visible the plankton is with agitation. You do not see the neon blue unless you agitate the water. Crew provides a pole for guests to use to create the neon trail.
Unless you have professional grade cameras and truly understand camera settings, dont expect to get good pictures of the bio illuscent plankton. I tried and failed. There are tips online for the best camera settings if you google it. I tried to get a picture and video but failed, so best advise to give is to take it in and enjoy it in the now.
Definately a must see if you are in the area and definately a must do on a bucket list.

We had our three year old and one year old boys with us so we couldn't kayak. The boat ride to the bay is a really cool experience as well. Once out on the bay they had a large tarp that they put over us so we could see the "lighting bugs" as my 3 year old called them. It was a really cool experience! I would highly recommend this company. They had water and treats waiting for us when we got off and they were very welcoming. Make sure to use the directions from their website to get the the right location.

Since my 6 years old was traveling with me, I couldn't take the kayaking for the bio luminescent bay in Fajardo. There are only two electric boats that operate in Fajardo tours. Baby Bay and Bio Island tours. I could get reservation only with Baby Bay. After confirmation through email and phone call, they didn't have me in the list when I reached there. They somehow squeezed us in the boat (may be not allowed). Their boat and their docking area is not good compared to Bio Island tours. I suggest to take the Bio Island tours. Funny thing is, I got a message after a year confirming my reservation, looks like they booked me for a year later!!!

When should I call the company? I’ve been trying with no luck and have left messages. I’ve tried:
787-472-3128
787-655-2739
787-439-2028
Any tips or tricks of getting in contact with these people? It’s a little concerning to me that they don’t seem to be available ever.

If you are staying at las Casitas /El Conquistador, you can go to the marina level and walk out the gate to the bay, there are tons of kayak and tour people out there along with kiosks for food, drinks etc. If you are elsewhere, you will need to use gps to get there via car, or take a taxi.

Baby Bay Cruising Lagoon - Are you a valid company ? Tried calling multiple times on both your numbers, tried emailing several times, absolutely no response.
Left multiple voice messages but no one ever calls back.
Has anyone been on a tour with this company recently ?

They are a legit company, but their communication links are mediocre if not downright bad. I was persistent and eventually got the tour I wanted, had a great time, and was very glad to have gone with them.

Is there a "best way" to contact Baby Bay ? I have tried, but knowing they are busy wonder how others connected. Also, we are arriving via cruiseship and will dock at 4pm leave at 11pm. WIll this give us enough time?
Thanks

I'm not sure where you are docking (San Juan?) but we just called the company and spoke. with them directly. However, when we got to the area we realized there were dozens of other companies taking people out for the tour. So if you can't call someone, You should be able to still get a board a boat to view the luminescence. I think Fajardo is about 40 minutes from San Juan, if you know where you are going. Give yourself at least 90 minutes in either direction just to be safe. The boats leave after dark and the best time is when there's no moon
