Stepped inside in between services as we frequently passed by on the way to shops from apartment. Stunning interior decor especially the dome mural.

Wonderful church. One of the most beautiful in all of Greece. Unique interior, beautiful and exterior, perhaps in the best location in Ermoupoli, in the Vaporia district. Anyone who finds themselves in Syros must definitely visit it by checking the hours it is open. If the visitor can combine a visit to the church of Anastasia and the Catholic church of San George in Ano Syros, then you will definitely have a complete picture of the religious monuments of Hermoupolis.

Τι κατανυκτικη ατμοσφαιρα, παραμονη της Αγ. Παρασκευης, νιωσαμε μπαινοντας σ'αυτον το ναο κι ακουγοντας λειτουργια και υμνους.....Μεγαλοπρεπεια, ηρεμια, απαλος φωτισμος, υπεροχες εικονες, κερια που καιγονται, μοσχοβολωντας.....

My wife and myself are currently holidaying in Syros and after visiting St George Church in Ano Syros yesterday (see Review) we went to see St Nicholas Church in Ermoupoli earlier today.
Both are impressive Churches but St Nicholas - which is far easier to access but doesn’t have the panoramic views of St George - was my narrow favourite. Set in its own grounds, it certainly makes an instant impression as does the steep set of marble steps!
It really needs to be seen at firsthand to be fully appreciated and - as such and to my mind - any visit to Ermoupoli would be incomplete without having spent some time at St Nicholas Church!

Greek Orthodox Church. Beautifully decorated around Easter, one of the most important religious holidays in Greece. Waking up and hearing the chiming bells during your morning coffee is a unique experience. Well maintained monument. Impressive 4m high staircase. Colourful dome, towers, paintings on the walls and ceiling.
The nearby park, Parko Agiou Nikolaou in front of the church is a wonderful location, for example, for photography and ideal for launching a travel drone. Submit an application to the HCAA in advance and request permission from Syros Airport Tower (flight zone near the airport and above the city).
Please dress respectfully if you want to visit the church inside i.e. long skirt for women, long pants for men, no tight fitting clothes, no miniskirts nor bathing suits. Dress in your Easter best.

Chiesa grande e moderna situata nella bellissima zona di Vaporia. Dalle finestre del mio alloggio ad Ermoupoli ne ammiravo la cupola blu. Molto belli e ricchi gli interni. Si trova vicino alla zona di Asteria, dalle cui piattaforme puoi fare un bagno cittadino ammirando questa elegante struttura.
